Which Is Your Favorite SHINOBI Game?

As I play almost every entry (I fondly remember Super Shinobi II) of the Shinobi series I see many pros and cons. Graphics not being a factor which would you say you like of the series the best and in what order?

For me:

1.> Super Shinobi (Revenge of Shinobi)
2.> Shadow Dancer (*Arcade version)
3.> Shadow Dancer (*Mega Drive version)
4.> Super Shinobi II (Part 3: Return of Ninja Master)
5.> Shinobi (PS2)
6.> Shinobi (Arcade)
7.> Cyber Shinobi (SG-1000 Mk III)
8.> Shin Shinobi Den (Saturn: Shinobi Legions)

then the two Game Gear versions in tie for #9. Which is your favorite?

I remember spending so much time playing Shadow Dancer back in the day. Same goes with most Genesis games. Now the new generation systems are killing me. People start to expect alot of games so if I go back and play Shadow Dancer again I'll probably get sick of it real fast. Well, that's what happened with Sonic and Contra <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />

My absolute Fave id The Super Shinobi (Revenge of Shinobi). What a womderful games that is! Truly my most beloved Mega Drive, and Shinobi game. Special Mention to the Mega drive Shadow Dance. I have the arcade PCB as well, but the MD one just speaks to me!

I would have to say Shinobi 3 no doubt with the one on PS2 a close second. Shinobi 3 was the best and beat every other Shinobi for sure. Best gameplay on the Genesis The best!!!

it's a tough call, but Shinobi III: ROTNM wins out, with Game Gear Shinobi and Revenge Of Shinobi next.

i'd say shinobi 3 as well.

and then would be shinobi on mastersystem.

for some reason, i really dont like the arcade versions of any of the shinobi games...they just feel weird. and shinobi 1 reminds me of eswat...eww

Definitely Shinobi III, esp. the stage with all the traps. Then there's Revenge of Shinobi. It is time-consuming to say the least.

Many of you have probably not played Shinobi (PS2). It's not a ground breaking game in any sense of the word, but a very solid 3D title for the PS2 worthy of being called Shinobi. Play it guys.

Shinobi for PS2 is probably my fav. The others are fun, but I feel that it's far superior when it comes to control and fun factor.

Shadow Dancer for the Genesis was great - I really loved that game. Easily my favorite of the Shinobi games I've played.

I've never seen the arcade version though - what were the differences between the two?

I like to think of Shinobi and Contra:SS as Sega and Konami's way of saying thank you to the real fans of both games. Where they ground breaking yes and no, Shinobi has replay value like a motha and Contra :SS test you on seeing if you can beat a level without dying once. Hell with games out for it now like GTA: VC and Madden 2003, Shinobi is one of the most groundbreaking games out on the ps2
