an arcade around here has finally gotten a clue, and is starting to get into more Bemani games... a few months after they got a DDRMAX2 (with the memory card slots!) out of nowhere, now they have a Beatmania Complete Mix 2. I've never really gotten to spend much time with Beatmania, but god damn it's a lot of fun. Hard though, definitely harder than DDR. I'm getting some 5-stars down on Hard, but I can't keep up with any of the 6-star stuff even on HS1.

I know those that have played IIDX will say it destroys regular Beatmania, but it's okay by me since I'm still getting 5-key down. 7-key makes my head hurt (I've tried on a simulator, it was ugly)

So yeah, I know there's a few DDR players around here, but I'm just curious as to how many people on the forums are into Beatmania / IIDX also.

Sonic1687 and I played beatmania down at the shit arcade. Yeah it was fun... good songs. But when you suck at the game, The music sucks. And having all those people around... yeah embarrassing.
If they keys were actually together like a piano, it would be easy, but since they're not it's harder to hit the right keys. But it is a fun game... I hope thats what beatmania is lol.

Well, there's always Keyboardmania for that. But that didn't prove to be popular enough apparently since it got stopped after 3rd Mix.

but yeah, it's just a matter of getting used to where the keys are and then being able to read and hit them without thinking. just like reading arrows on DDR, after a while it just becomes natural. For now I'm still panicing when I see a bunch of notes and scratches together...

Bemani games aren't my cup of tea, but I did try one the day after the SATX Neo:Geo Gathering for KOF 2K2. I just can't keep up with the pace of that... I figured it be easy since I was pretty good a mashing buttons on Parappa but I got my ass handed to me by some bloke who's a freggin' Bemani expert. Like I said, not my cup of tea but I do like the concept, it's a hellva' way to work up a sweat... but then again I'd rather do that fuckin' the GF. :D
