Has Anyone Seen *Gangs of NewYork* ?

Just wondering if any in here have seen this flick. I'm going to check it out later tonight, but wanted some opinions on it beforehand. The film took forever to be released and it's been over hyped since it was green lighted as a Scorsese directed venture... so does it live up to the hype? Was it worth waiting for? After seeing it is there really anything that would have made it "Too" controversial directly after the 9-11 fiasco? *since it was held again because of this issue*

Larry Ratliff gave this 4 out of 4 jalapenos on Friday's Weekender. Worth catching perhaps?
