At a friend's house.
The four of us played some 4 player "NHL Hitz 2002."
I used one of the big clunky XBOX controllers, not the smaller slimmer ones.
As I was playing, the thought running through my head most was, damn are these buttons too close together. My thumb would try to hit one button and it ends up hitting another nearby. It took me a while to get used to. But overall I was kinda annoyed by it.
Still, I didn't let it affect it too much how I was having fun.
Hitz 2002 was not bad, especially playing with 3 other old friends. It might not be the same as Super Bomberman or even NBA Jam (times change) but playing Hitz 2002 was pretty fun. Scores are high, action is non-stop, and there's little time to even breathe!
I wouldn't play it alone. But with 3 other friends it's not shabby.
Overall, from that one game, it seems to me the XBox is not a bad "multiplayer system." I can't comment how its single playing trips are.

And it's just plug and play so you dont have to set up everything with wizards and stuff. Xbox weighs less than a pc tower too (surprisingly) so it's easier to take around.
