Yup. Hard to believe its 4 years already. It may not have achieved mainstream success, but I think its safe to say Sega's last system was by far its best.

Im proud to say I was in line on 9-9-99 waiting to pick up nearly $700 worth of Sega goodness. The legend will never die! :D

I got mine on nine nine as well. I worked across the street from the mall. Coworkers and I walked over at lunch and claimed ours. It was torture waiting until 5PM to leave and play it... safe to say, atleast one of them got sick and went home early... it was IBM... bunch of Sega fans in my department... It's funny to see a bunch of grown men in suits act like kids waiting in line for their DC wink Atleast it was to me//

I had a Japanese one before the US launch, but I too was in line on 9.9.99 that midnight. Sad, I know, but I couldn't help it.

DC may very well be the best system to have ever come out. Internet, high tech, great games, four ports. GREAT games..... oops, said that already. wink PSO changed my life.

I remember 9/9/99, i was stuck in highschool knowing i wouldn't be able to afford the DC on release. I think i drew the Sega Swirl on every assignment i turned in that day. It was a horrific wait until April of 2000 when i was able to get the Dreamcast for my Birthday. What a fine purchase and one i will never regret. I've yet to purchase a console on a release date but the DC is one i wish i would of had from day 1.

9.9.99 buttrock

I picked my DC up in the wee hours of 9.9.99 because Funcoland staged a midnight launch of the console and I volunteered to work it. This helped guarantee that I got a system and my choice of games first and it was like being a kid in a candy store figuring out which games I wanted to buy while anxious customers waited on the outside looking in :D .

If I remember right, I picked up Sonic Adventure, Ready to Rumble, Power Stone, and Soul Calibur that night. Instead of waiting for Marvel vs. Capcom I ended up buying Final Fantasy VIII that night with the leftover money I had :p .

Sega really outdid themselves with the launch of the Dreamcast after the horrid release of the Saturn. I want to say that the DC launch had 18 titles available at launch with a good 3/4 of them being decent to great titles.

9.9.99 I was sad because there was no mod yet for my japanese system. I had to wait like a month for someone to make a mod chip so that i could play US games. I love my dreamcast though, I'm a proud owner of 1 japanese modded system, 1 US black "sports" system w/2 black controllers, 1 Dreamcast demo unit, lots o accessories, and 69 games alllright! tickled

This is one of the systems I stood in line for at the old EB location in the Willow Brook mall.

I still have that same Dreamcast, games,VMU and the receipt(somewhere for it )I bought on release day.

When I bought it I'm pretty sure I got 2-3 or 5 games with it.
The non loading Blue Stinger game that EB offered replacements for in white envelopes.

I think I may have picked up one or more of the following games below.
They are on the top of my rack..the same location they've been since launch day..
Everything below them on the rack I bought after these.

Air Force Delta.
TNN Motorsports Hardcore Heat
Aero Wings
Sonic Adventures
Sega Rally 2

I could never get the hang of Aero Wings..

I need to locate that old receipt again...
That's the good old times..I was very excited about this system, when it was coming out.

I still love this system and collect games for it..

I remember how expensive the VMU's were, and the batteries would die so fast.

I have like 12 of them now..They are so cheap in price now.
