For the 2D fighters I prefer non-weapon combat. For the 3D fighters however, I prefer weapon combat. I don't mind weapon 2D fighters or 3D non weapon fighters too much though.

But there are some cool weapon based fighters which i quite like:

I like barefists with fireballs and nostalgic graphics. KOF! but there are some weapon based fighters that I liked, like last blade 1 and 2, and Sam sho 4

Well personally I like the weapon based fighters. There is just that feeling behind them that when you hit your opponent, it’s like WHACK! Hehe for example, in Samurai Showdown, when you hit the guy, time stops for a second, just such a solid feel to them. My favorites are Last Blade and Samurai Showdown.

I like weapon. There seems to be a little more skill to them. Last Blade, Samurai Shodown, even Weaponlord.

I also picked up WeaponLord rather recently, but never could quite pull off the moves too well. The controller on the SNES just doesn't quite cut it.
