Of course it came out in Japan. IT'S ANIME!

You ACTUALLY liked Tekken: The Movie? Man, you must be either really easy to please, or you've never seen any other anime before this one. Tekken is one of the WORST movies I've ever seen! Most of the characters are there for show (not even getting one speaking line), the plot is very lame, and the entire presentation is incredibly flawed. To sum it all up in one word: terrible (ranks right up there with Samurai Shodown and Art of Fighting as one of the worst video game-to-anime conversions ever made).

er... I think he means the live action HK movie that's called 'Legend of Tekken'. Here's some old July 2000 info:

Stareast Studios has dropped "Dragon Tiger Gate" and is now
using this budget to make a live-action adaptation of the famous video game
"Tekken", a fantasy fighting advanture set in year 2050 and is to be
directed by Corey Yuen, who most recently worked as the action scenes
director of the upcoming "X-men". This version will star newcomer Leehom
Wang (whose debut will be in the now-shooting "Thunder Cop") as Jin Kazama
and Sammo Hung as Jin's father, Jun Kazama. Stephen Fung ("Gen-X Cops",
"Gen-Y Cops") will also co-star as Hwoarang and Kristy Yeung ("Stormriders",
"A Man called Hero") will play Ling Xiaoyu. The rest of the cast is still
unconfirmed.. Andrew Lau, the director of " The Stormriders" is one of the
movie's producers, along with Wong Jing ("God of Gamblers").
