Shenmue fans--are you looking forward to Rent-A-Hero for XBOX?

I'm a Shenmue fanatic, and with the future of Shenmue III still shrouded in mystery, I was surprised to see the old Dreamcast game Rent a Hero being readied for a September release for the XBOX! :)

Priced at a super affordable $29.99 and a hybrid of Shenmue gameplay with wacky Japanese humor, this will be hard to pass up, particularly since we definitely won't have a new Shenmue anytime soon! From what I'm hearing, RAH has been delayed a few times at EB, but it should definitely be out this month! I never had the chance to try out the DC version, so this is actually great timing (due out just before SVC!) and a great price!

Yeah, I've been watiing for this release myself... However, I don't know what the relation between this and Shenmue is.

Ah, hell -- I loved the DC RAHNo.1! Is the X-box release a direct port, or will it have improved graphics and/or additional levels/missions/materials/secrets/etc.?

I'm just happy to finally be able to actually PLAY a Rent-A-Hero game period! I always wanted teh Mega Drive version but if I tend to stay away from RPG's if I can't understand the language... shooters and actiony stuff you can just hit buttons and enjoy the cinema cut scenes and stuff... thus I'm very happy SEGA continues to support "NICHE" stuff over on the XBOX.

Is this REALLY a good game though, or just a silly game to amuse Sega fanboys?

From what I've read in the few reviews/previews of the XBOX version, it appears to be a straight up port (they constantly complain about the "dated" DC quality graphics---I find that to be part of the appeal!!) with a full English translation! Don't know much about extras, but just think...a Shenmue-style game to play this fall! What's not to like!! :)

Its sort of dissapointing they didn't spruce up the graphics a bit but that doesnt really matter. It sure does have a great price. I think i'll wait to read some reviews on it before i pick it up though.

anyone know if there are plans to release Shenmue 1 for the box? Maybe after (if) part 3 is released? Wasn;t the whole series spose to be a trilogy?

many if they released a Shenmue trilogy xbox set of Shenmue i would shit myself. then shit in my little bros underwear so people would think he shit is pants. they wouldnt know i shit mine though cuz i would change them real quick. :o

Hmm...that's a great observation. It wouldn't surprise me and it would be a great suprise, particularly if the original was also translated (perhaps that's the reason for all the delays this game has endured? :p ).

In any event, Sega's current trend seems to be the inclusion of older games on their newest releases, so keep your fingers crossed! :cool:

This is one of a couple games that I am looking forward to getting when they come out. Voodoo Vince is another one that seems like it should be rather amusing to play.

that would be awsome.
thats what is so funny about the DC version.
its justs a 3d revision of it.
or at least how it starts.
i have the DC rent-a-hero.
its great for the bad jokes and in SEGA jokes
that only SEGA fans would get.
but then you play it more and see how much better
the game should have been.
i hope they overhauled it somewhat in the gameplay
scheme of things.
and i m sure itll be more fun in english.

Part 3 of Shenmue will have all previos chapters included with it so don't worry about that. :D
Bad thing is we don't know what system it will be on! :(
Would it kill Sega to make this game and VF4E multiplatform oh_no

I've played rent a hero on the dc imort and thought it was pretty good quit playing after a few missions though as I cant read jap. and all the reading of faqs is never fun. So i am delighted to see it finally get a us release on the xbox.
