Okay, has this ever happened to anybody. I shipped out on Monday a package to a member here on the boards via usps Priority. Well, I decided (I don't know why but I did) to go home for lnch today, low and behold, the box I sent to a member here was waiting for me at the front office. The label is for the member, not me, I'm in the top corner of the package for ref. But the package came to me instead. Anybody know why this happened? Is it just a major screw up on the post office?

Actually, this has happened to me multiple times with the USPS; only concerning one member of this board, and I have no idea why.

The PO by my house seemed to have no explanation since the actual drop of was done by a specific mail carrier; it was quite the mystery.

Strange...

I was going to make a topic about this, but since there's already a USPS topic here, I'll just post in here:

A friend of mine always trades sports cards with people online... He made a trade about 3 weeks ago and sent out some cards in an envelope via UPS. About 5 days later, he received the envelope back, completely mangled with a note inside saying "We are sorry, but we have damaged your items." (not exact wording, but pretty close).

Apparently they must have fucked up his stuff and just thrown it out, seeing as how he did not receive his cards back.

Well, he's thankful that the UPS at least sent his mangled envelope back to him... now he can tape it up and re-use it again...

I told him to take some sort of action, but he didn't bother... I would have at least called them and been like "Yo bitches! What the fucking hell did you do!?"

This world and it's postal services are going to hell...

Me Too, via usps Priority.
I couldn't believe my eyes.
I said WTF!
How the hell.
It was an ebay won auction from far too.
I recognized the Name on the label.
He had sent me something put in a box that had been mailed to him.
He never changed the address and put my mailing info on the top left.(cut out)

I always send my address in a way that it could be cut out and used to send my packages.
He used it but didn't put it in the right place.
My name was on the top left and it came to me.
I said WTF and the next day to the mailman.
He had no answer for it.
I still don't understand.

You're talking as if the postal services were GOOD once before. I can't remember that time if it was ever true...

Just thank god you don't live in Canada or you don't receive stuff from the US living in Canada.

Even though it's not directly related to your problem, the PO here is even worst than USPS or at least customs. They open everything like it's a mass destruction device. Now what happens is I get incredible delays on EMS shipments.

Just thought I would share the light on the other hand of the border ;) .

Yeah, I guess I didn't word that correctly now, did I?

Edit: Oh, and my friend's envelope was sent via priority as well...

His cards are probably in the trash can of some Wyoming-based UPS office right now...

Highlander.... Did you use their labels?

I have heard of some of these problems, but if you use THEIR labels that specifically say "TO" and "FROM" this never happens :)

Out of around 500-600 packages sent out... I have not lost one... or had one returned. But I always use their labels. FYI... if you shipmedia, just cut off the top part of the priority label (I also cut the bottom revision part off too). A few USPS workers told me to just do that.

I am not sure why this happens... but I have had only 1 package take over 1 and 1/2 months to arrive at its destination. The buyer was not too happy.. but what can you do. It was caught up in California. FINALLY when it arrived, he said that the package looked like a dog ate it and crapped it back out... lol.

That... is... stupid. I would be very mad if I sent something to someone, only to have it come right back to me. Both my money was wasted, and I would have wasted the person I sold too's time as well. I always try to make sure I make people I'm selling to happy.

That is stupid. But hey, it's USPS. What do you expect? They've been on my shit list for a few weeks now. <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

I got to say that I like USPS the best.... they have the less hassle when it comes to shipping... and I have never lost a package with them (international... or domestic......)
I have had a few late packages...

It is so much easier to ship out a USPS package than FEDEX or UPS because they make you fill out a different form that takes a lot longer to sign per package.... and they are not as fast at the counter.... and that really counts with 30 + packages per visit.

I asked my uncle today.
He's a big shot in the Postal service. USPS.

Is it just a major screw up in the post office?
YES..
They fkd up the package and put those labels(back) on it.
They may even put them in the wrong place.
He says it happens sometimes.

They read the bar code and can tell where it's going.
So it reaches you no matter where the label is.
He gave me a deep explanation that was understandable.

As for my package.
He said the guy sending it must of called about the mistake and they delivered it too me knowing about the mistake.
This can be done..
He also said that they write/stamp/barcode/codes near the addresses when this happens so the mailman realizes where to deliver it.

As for Sonic1787DC's friend mangled package. He said the they mess stuff up all the time.
Shit gets stuck in the machines, falls off the conveyors, gets put to the side for later sorting.
Then thrown out.
He said they will send the messed up empty package back to the sender.
It depends on how far it gets.
He works in one of the biggest post offices in the state.
The place were all out of town mail is taken and sorted into trucks and routed to all over the world.
