Found a brand new copy of this for under $20, and I was wondering if it was worth picking up.

I've read a few reviews of it, and most are pretty favorable, but I'd like to hear what people here thought of it before I grabbed it.

I picked it up yesterday and love it so far. Your main character unlike most RPGs will unleash a variety of combos when it's his turn to attack, instead of the standard one hit turn. When it's your turn to attack a segmented cicle will spin, certain parts of the circle are shaded in a different colour. Your actions in battle are determined by your success in hitting the shaded parts of the circle - Fairly original. I'll play it more tonight and mention more things about it. But it's definitely worth picking up. Umm... your healing character will also run up and beat the opponent to death with a magic book :D . So far only Final Fantasy 10 is better.

Err...The only RPG you don't even want to get near is Wizardry - Tale of the Forsaken Land. It's a poor excuse for an RPG, it will bore you to death.

Thanks, sounds good! :)

I ended up grabbing it yesterday, as they only had one copy left and I didn't want to miss it. Haven't played it yet though (I've still got an unopened copy of Suikoden III I've been planning on getting to...), so I can't give you any personal impressions yet.

BTW, if you like doing combos in RPGs, you should definately track down a copy of Grandia II if you haven't already. I had it on the Dreamcast and, especially on the later levels, once you had put some levels under your belt, you could pull off some pretty nifty combos by stringing the differant character's attacks and specials together against a single foe (worked best with bosses).

I think my highest was somewhere in the 30 to 40 hit range! :D
