Just got one for doing 34 in a 25. Figure ah this should be nothing. Nothing but 137 bucks. For the love of God when did speeding get so damn expensive. This same ticket cost me 27.50 6 years ago.

No, whats bullshit is that your dad didn't get his license revoked. That is just plain reckless driving.

a few years ago i was stopped for both speeding and not slowing down when a pedestrian was crossing the street. cop asked me if i knew what speed i was going (i had a broken speedometer which would have been another ticket) so i just said i wasnt paying attention.

lucky for me he only gave me a ticket for speeding. i guess speeding is more illegal than nearly running a pedestrian over.

even luckier still was the fact that a few months after that i went to take care of the ticket and they told me they have no record of the ticket. the officer must not have turned it in for processing. woohoo!!! buttrock

What's funny is the cop gave me a chart of tickets and prices and here's the quote

10 miles or less over speed limit 137
20 miles or more over speed limit 157

Soooo if I was going 90 in a 25 the speeding ticket would have be 20 bucks more? How retarded is that.

Over 100 is wreckless driving. But I would think that going over 100 would be more wreck inducing than wreck less.

And CO, don't feel bad as a speeding ticket in the village is a flat 160 or so.

this is why you should invest in a 1975 dodge charger, and muscle it out; then when the cops come after you you peel out, and get away at speeds up to 210mph. and call your car the general lee, and make sure the cops are hicks.

or drive a trans am, and smuggle beer across mississippi, grow a moustache wear a cowby hat, and have a high pithced laugh, and a girl who is quote: "cute like a frog."

you're supposed to obey the speed limit(that's why they have one), if you don't then you should be prepared to face the consequences and that's that. don't bitch about something that's your fault.

as for those radars, they're illegal just about everywhere(including here in CA). I'm surprised the cops haven't done anything about yours yet, Deyer.

Heh, I got a ticket for goin 26 in a 25. The town only has 250 people, one main sereet, one cop, who is a total dick. The car died at a stop sign, and so them he charges up on me and gives me a fuckin ticket sayin i speeding.

I got it off my record, but it cost me more than the ticket did.

Fuck Cops

that happened to you here in austin? you must have been in williamson county, because as far as i know APD is the laziest bunch of doofuses to ever form a police force, they never pulled me over when my insurance was expired, or when my tail light on the rightside was out. they usually are seen sleeping in their cars, or eating mexican food somewhere. but the william son county sheriff's dept. will tear you from your car, and beat you for going half a mile over the speed limit, thus the reason why williamson county has the lowes crime rate in all of texas, noone does anything, for fear that they'd be slaughtered by the fuzz.

I have a friend who is an Officer of the Law for the State of New Hampshire. According to him (and this will come as no surprise to some of you), each officer has a quota that he / she must meet every week (i.e. they must write so many tickets pertaining to speeding and parking violations). The next time some dick cop writes you a ticket for driving one mile over the speed limit, just remember that he was just making ‘his’ quota.

BTW: People who deliberately break the speed limit (especially 50+ miles over the speed limit) get what they deserve, expensive ticket and all.

No offense Choosen One, but I agree with the poster who said you have no one to blame but yourself. Going 34 in a 25 zone is not too bright, I can't understand why some folks just can't follow the speed limit. Really, 25 and 34 MPH... you'll still get where you want at 25, PLUS you'd avoid a 137 dollar fine.

On a side note, I always laugh my ass off on the freeways when I go 70 MPH, and see some idiot go 95 trying to hurry up, switching lanes like crazy, meanwhile, I stay in my one lane, and 30 seconds later pass the sucker up.

Anyways, if you learned something today, you know surely what that is. You might think 9 miles is nothing, but the 25 law probably means it's close to a school zone where there are little kids. You just never know... one life taken by some person who wanted to go 10 miles faster... NOW that would be truly WHACK.

Always obey the city street speed limits... always...

True, but honestly, killing people over one mile because officer Barney Fief is trying to hurry up his quota because he screwed around during that week, doesn't give him the right to pull over a person going over ONE MILE, while someone speeding 95 zooms past your car as your ticketed.
Then again, people are procrastinators. Will wait to the last minute to do something that is part of their job. Yet will do some stupid shit in order to get their paycheck.
Which is so damn sad, if you got something to do, do it NOW and do it RIGHT. shame

I completely agree with you Steve. There's absolutely no reason why people can't follow the speed limit. It's like my dad always says, if someone is in such a damn hurry to get somewhere, why don't they leave 5 minutes earlier?

This topic reminds me of this one time when I followed my sister to her house to carry in the new TV she had just bought. As we were waiting for the traffic to go by on the left hand side, this idiot thought he'd pull a smart move by going around to the right of us when he smashed head on into the guard rail. His face was redder than one of Jason's victims. I guess sometimes the Lord works in mysterious ways. :D
