I was in the shower thinking about Final Fight when I started to list all of the version in my head. These are all I could come up with. I need help naming all of the rest. I know I'm missing a few.

Final Fight Arcade
Final Fight SNES
Final Fight Guy SNES
Mighty Final Fight NES
Final Fight SEGA CD
Final Fight 2 SNES
Final Fight 3 SNES
Final Fight One GBA

Were there X68000 and C64 versions?

Amstrad?

let me know,
Rade

P.S. Is there a Final Fight tribute sight out there? A-la Castlevania Dungeon or Metroid Database?

If there isn't, there should be. IMHO, the true king of all side-scrolling beat-em ups doesn't get enough respect. Still plays great today. And dare I say it holds up better than the original SFII does?

BTW, I've long wanted to give an X-68000 a whirl...I've always heard it really gives the MegaDrive and SuperFami a run for their money in terms of 2D horsepower.

All time King?

I dunno. I feel that Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3 (especially 2 and 3), stole the FF idea fairly effectively and made itself superior.

Though, Final Fight CD owns so much it hurts. I think I'd rather play SoR2 than FF though.

And man, Final Fight 2 and 3 were just horrid. Final Fight 1 is prolific, though and it stands as an all time great. It stole the good stuff from Double Dragon and did a little extra. Just like Sega did. heh.

To prove it's superiorty, I only need mention that it pulled of near perfect ports of Strider and Gradius 2.

Still though, I really love my US Genesis Strider 1. Something about it. something about that Scott Thompson looking guy on the cover. Ugh. Classic.

I have no idea what that is. Elaborate, as I need to know.

See, for me, Bare Knuckle (SOR) is really good, but, there's just a certain timelessness to Final Fight that I can't even describe. I also think the characters designs in Final Fight are vastly superior. I liken it to comparing Last Blade 2 to Samurai Shodown 2. Yeah, Last Blade 2 has more moves, characters, looks better, but...Samurai Shodown 2 is just a fuckin' work of art. Know what I mean? I guess for me, logic doesn't play into it as much, it's just a feeling. BTW, I'm talking strictly about the arcade Final Fight. The crappy home sequels don't even exist in my mind. The music on FF CD kicks a whole lot of ass! I can only imagine what Yuzo could have conjured up with a CD-based Bare Knuckle game. Anyone else here dream of a GameCube Bare Knuckle game?

Yeah, U.S. Gold.

I beleive that whatever is left of them became, or was absorbed by Eidos, which struck it lucky with a fluke I like to call Tomb Raider.

All kidding aside, Strider 2's Hiryu (on the cover) looked like a Russian gymnast, or something.

I don't understand how all Ninja's are caucasion to American artists in the late 80s early ninties.

LOL...I used to pick that off my shelf and say..."Time to play Quantum Leap."

BTW, Final Fight Tough is the Japanese name for FF3 US.

Yes the were other versions -

Final Fight (Atari 520/1040 ST FM/E)
Final Fight (Amiga 500)
Final Fight (PC)

These were distributed by US Gold (now Eidos) in the UK/Europe circa 1991.

There may have been C64 and Spectrum versions released through US Gold too, but this was around the time support for these formats was quickly drying up. I seriously doubt there is an X68000 version, although there maybe an Amstrad CPC 464 version if a Speccy and C64 version was done.

Bare Knuckle/SOA and Final Fight are almost equals in my head, I guess. I just have a little more fun playing SOA.

Visually, yes FF is vastly superior. More of a cultural impact as well.

Oh, Eidos was an amalgamation between US Gold (quality label, used to publish some top Capcom and Sega conversions) and Domark (famed for publishing the original Star Wars trilogy and some very dodgy Jmes Bond licences). I think there may have been a third company involved I can't remember (wasn't Tengen as that was a sub-brand of Domark; nor was it Ocean or Gremlin - both swallowed up by Infogrammes)...

I always wondered what happened to Elite... they produced amasing conversions of Space Harrier, Bomb Jack, Buggy Boy to name a few :)

Dream about it, I beat my meat to the thought of it. Can you imagine what he could have done with the music of say VF 4 or SHINOBI, the man is like the Mozart of game music

True capcom was on one for the design of FF in the arcades, raise your hand if you don't nod your head when you listen to the intro theme or laugh when Damn does in the intro also.Course I do that with FF and SoR 1 & 2 and I think I can actually say the intros for all three word for word, or semi-word for word(is that a good thing?), to bad it was unfortunately blemished(sp?) with a Guy-less snes port and two horrid sequels, maybe capcom will remember that they at least somewhat owe us a true sequel to FF(I'd like em to explain Cody being in jail in FF the SFA).

It's funny when i look back and remember when SoR 2 came out me and some friends wondered what it would be like if Sega and Capcom did something for FF and SoR ala Battletoads and Double Dragon. The things you think of in grade school

Quite possibly, I think someone needs to start a Final Fight Love website. I don't think I like videogames enough to do it though.

Blaine, I'm looking at you.

Think about it; you could have a section devoted to Jesse Ventura. Capcom predicted Jesse Ventura's rise to world power you know. I just wish some one actually did kidnap his daughter and he was forced to teem up with her criminal boyfriend and a Ninja to get her back. That would have driven me crazy if it happened.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Sounds like Issac Hayes.

Saturn - Final Fight Revenge (not a walk along, but has the characters)

There is an X68000 version that supports full sprites and 2 player, only rivaled by arcade/mame and Mega CD versions.

The X68000 really does move the shjt for 2d games, truly awsome, just check out Dracula X(were talking awsome music.....also known as Castlevania chronicles on PSX)

Also check out Phalanx, Mad Stalker, Genocide 2, most Capcom CPS2 games, and Konami(Gradius, Ajax etc...)

Core Design was one of the amalgamated companies.

I have the the Commodore Amiga version of Final Fight. It´s not actually that bad for it´s time. It has all the levels of the arcade and you can play with two players. However, the game loads during the stages and there is a lot of disk swapping if you don´t have two disk drives. Oh, and the sound sucks too even though the Commodore Amiga had probably the most impressive sound chip for its time. Graphically though, it stayed pretty faithful to the arcade.

here is a website that show the many versions of final fight.
