To be honest I thought this game was going to suck, big time. But being the DBZ fan that I am I knew I was headed for a purchase no matter how I thought it looked.
And after playing for about an hour, I walked away a very satisfied.
The gameplay itself is a lot like Final Bout, only with a triple shot of expresso.
Like GT:FB it features some slick looking Ki blasts (which is really the only reason why DBZ is cool), and the combo system has been improved and it doesn't feel like your character is moving around in molasses.
The English voice overs may piss some people off (I'm sure SonGohan isn't happy about this), but I never was a fan of the original Japanese ones either, so no complaints from me.
If you're a fan of DBZ and enjoy a simple yet fun fighting game, then I would highly recommend picking up Budokai, it's a (Ki) blast.
Edit: Do yourself a favor and don't watch the intro, it will make you want to shut your PS2 off right there.
