I was just watching this special on VH1 called I Love The 80's and for the life of me, I can't stop thinking about how much I miss that wonderful decade. They showed clips of Michael Jackson, Silver Spoons, and Family Ties. I find myself thinking about the 80's more and more each day. I'm just flat out sick of our current rap influenced culture. Oh well, maybe when we die, the lord will let us travel back in time. Sorry for the bickering guys, but I really needed to get that off my chest. :)

VH1 is good for flashbacks like that. I liked their Milli Vanilli and Culture Club Behind the Music editions.

I think about the mid/late 80s a lot too. I was like you once where I completely thought about the old days every waking second, but now I've toned down moderately. Make sure you don't reflect SO much that you forget to make good of your present.

<< I'm just flat out sick of our current rap influenced culture. >>

I don't mean to become Dr. Phil, but I think it's more than that that is bugging you. There's no need for you to go into detail, but "current rap influenced culture" is one small part of the reason why you prefer the 80s as compare to today's age.

I bet you were young (as in childhood young) during the 80s right? Childhood = innocence and carefree days for MANY people. Usually, those are the best times of our lives.

Transformers, He-Man, ThunderCats, Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors, GI Joe, NES, Intellivision, Atari, Colecovision, USA Cartoon Express, Cosby Show, Miami Vice. Yeah, I'd say I miss the 80s a bit myself!!! I only wish I was able to raise my children in the 80s. Matter of fact I just started an eGay account as: 8bit_80s.

I LOVE my Transformers Season I box set. And my most cherished Christmas present this year will be when I open up Season II, which I know my gf already got for me.

Oh yeah, how the fuck could I forget PINWHEEL!!!!!

if you've got digital cable, VH1 Classics is the only channel to watch. any and all videos before 1990 are shown.

on a sidenote, Deadsy's Commencement CD has been stuck on repeat in my car. they get lumped into the nu-metal category but this album is new wave to the bone

Don't you hate it how no one finds you original or witty anymore... kind of like how this guy misses the 80s.

On the one hand, when I think about the 80s I have some really fond memories (most of them girls-, music- and gaming-related), but overall, I'm happy that they're over.

80s = cold war. Cold war = over. 80s = over.

Thank God for that.

What I really miss are a number of cool ppl I knew back then. Most of them are gone now, some left Germany, the rest is spread across the country and changed their life style dramatically.

I could say that this is due to fucking 21st century, but in quiet moments, I mostly come to the conclusion that I'm just the same nerd as back in the 80s...

There's a cool 80s song by Deine Lakaien called Wasted Years which pretty much sums it up:

"Walking down this well known street
turning 'round for ladies feet
like you did so many years ago
sitting in that street cafe
where you had your cup of tea
come on boy don't get sentimental now
everything changed but you didn't move on
and the only fact is
that you're fifteen years older now

No use to turn out the lights
you feel so depressed inside
when you think of your wasted years at night

Standing in your discotheque
look since hours straight ahead
play the part of some ypung and lonesome star
introverted more and more
waiting for a small hello
people next to you they seem so far
but deep inside you made love to the world
'cause your imagination
was bigger than reality

No use to turn out...

When you came into that town
you found everything so fine
all your projects shall be realized
but your day-dreams strangled you
kept you from what you had to do
and life went on while you were paralysed
heaven knows you would give all you have
for the change to go back to those days for a new beginning

No use to turn out...

Walking down...

Better you leave the places of your past
'cause dreamers love cities and cities hate dreamers

No use to turn out..."

:)

Whenever I think of the 80's, Robocop is the 1st thing that comes to mind for some reason...Then followed by everything else...

Guess what? I have an original copy of the movie MEGA FORCE in BETA format! I still have some BETA players too! And they still work!...sort of...

Sweet dreams are made of these. Raviolli puts Hentai Sama's mind at ease!

Ever notice that the POW's in Metal Slug look alot like Chuck Norris in his prime?

I can't say I really miss the 80's since I don't really feel that way. I'm more of a 60's person anyway although I wasn't there. It's just that I really hate the way the people and atmosphere are in these days. Not all of it off course, but for instance I really dislike that hip hop culture thing as well.

I'm sure as hell that I would prefer living in a society like in the 80's over today's society anytime.
