Why is it?

I have played some good games with nudity. I foget the name but there was an anime PC Shooter where in addition to the enemies you had to blast the girls clothes off. (not unlike the Chick fight concept)

So what experences have you had to make you assume Nudity=Bad game?

Your basis is not within gameplay, but other stimuli. First, build gameplay concepts/mechanics, then do the other stuff. People want to play good games... if they just want porn, they know where to look. Taking a Brookestone attitude (Ice Cream = Good, Pillows = Good, Ice Cream Pillows = Awesome) towards making a game doesn't fool the gamer, only the consumer.

No, I don't think you've got it right.

Nudity doesn't guarantee a GOOD game, just like the most detailed graphics or amazing soundtrack alone.

If a game is "hyped" because it has nudity, it generally leads people to beleive that is its only merit. Why wouldn't they talk about the soundtrack, play mechanics, amounts of missions, etc?

good point. but that shooter I spoke about played very well. As good as any console topdown shooter

Take chick fight again my game. the Soundtrack from what I have picked out sounds very Yuzoish.
The Game play if I know what I'm doing won't be too far off from VF 4.

I probably would under hype the nudity then have people play this fighter with chicks be surpirzed there's tits in the game

Again Bemani... you have my support for the Chick Fighter game. More raw guerrillaism is needed in this sad conglomerate day and age... and while I have a GF that keeps me happy, I'll never scoff at scanitly clad babes or what not added in with my servings of games.

So for the record you have at least one person here that truly respects your endeavors, so like old Abe' Lincoln once said: "Endeavor to Perservere."

and let's not forget the classic Andy Lau HK english subbed line of "You've the Guts!"

Benami: Sorry, I didn't read your Chick Fight post before this one. (Don't have much time to surf on the weekend. :p )

Anyway, if you concentrate first on the play mechanics, add good graphics and soundtrack then I don't see how you couldn't have a winner, nudity or not.

It might not be a good idea here to openly advertise the nudity aspect as it'll seem like you have a game that's all flash/shock with no substance. ;)

You should have fun with it though. Add in alternative costumes, put in change room bonuses/fatalities, or ability to use the clothes you take from your opponent (maybe as a bonus game have them start off partially clothed and then the one that finishes fully dressed wins. :p )

What sort of character designs do you have in mind? Back story? Why are they fighting? Do you want it to be a serious or comedic? Are they all rival fashion models trying to disrupt a fashion show? Are they women at an amazing sale? Is one character trying to find her mother's killer (she has a tattoo somewhere on her body.)

The game could work, but why are they tearing the clothes off of each other?

Yeah, saying a game is bad because it has nudity is assuming a conclusion.

It's like all those studies that say kids who play violent video games have a propensity towards violence, when it's equally logical to say violent kids like violent games. Because there are people who play violent games that aren't violent themselves.

For any game, if you biggest selling point is something OTHER than good gameplay, it's not something I like to see. Because then you're not selling a game, you're selling some unnecessary content.

If BMXXX was a really good game with all the extra nudity and what not, that'd be fine (it'd be similar to a more adult version of Duke Nukem 3D. At it's heart, DN3D ruled. Everything else was icing).

If a game has amazing graphics, amazing sound, online play and a massively complex and expensive controler boxed in, that's cool. All of that should augment a good, fun game. It shouldn't take the place of good game play.

So a lot of times, it's backlash. If "people", meaning the executives and the news sources who have access to the information, only talk about bikinis and strippers...gamers have NO choice but to assume that the gameplay isn't worth talking about.

I didn't play BMX XXX yet. My sister said something about getting it for me for X-mas, so I hold judgement. But I haven't heard ANYONE talk about how good it is or how much fun it is. Only 'hey tits'.

Ditto for DOA Volley Ball. I'll reserve judgement until I play it, but if it's not better than Beach Spikers...than what is it?

I'm the biggest fan tits ever had. I have all thier books. But I'm a fucking game player. I care about the game.

Whether it's fair or not to assume a game is hollow because you hear nothing about it is debatable, but I know many people other than myself feel the same way.

It's like the old 'avoid the answer' trick.

Rev Quixo sets me up on a date with the girl who lives next door.

Q: "What's she look like?"
A: "She's got a great personality".

So, it's assumed looks aren't her high point.

Q: "How fun is the game?"
A: "It has bouncey tits."

Benimai, I'm all for you making this game - don't get my words wrong up there. I write scripts for games all the time... it's a passion of mine. However, I find it best to only reveal small portions about each game as you develop their ideas. It'll put a sour taste in people's mouths if the first thing you say is "Naked girls fighting". Humor yourself a little and just say "A comedic VF style fighter, but more counter based"... later you can mention "an all female cast". Also, you may want to give the name some more thought... again, it gives the gamer an incorrect view of what your game is suppose to be like. How about "Fatal Bust" or some twist of words like that (referring to the female "bust" of course... not the gamer's ;) ).

The Tornament is sponsored by a relgious group who want to ban everything we enjoy and use this tornament as a front. The Main Chracters are Female Ninjas and among the rest of the cast is a model that none of the cast likes, A TV personality, A US and J-pop star (unnamed but probably fictional) who are trying to shed their kiddy images,a Woman who has breasts that are so huge they cause damage during long combos, and a Mai Clone who always has her breasts popping out of her out fit the 2 bosses are male (who don't get naked they're very fat people) 2 hidden subbosses are also male who are in it for the sole perpose of seeing naked chicks (1 married the other a single reverend) there also a male Ninja NPC who yells at the Female Ninja if they lose too much clothing during a fight
There are 2 modes I'm thinking of

Cat Fight mode with the clothing rip
and
Get Dressed mode which has mild tearing and minimal breast exposure.

Multiple outfits are definatly in and there's one beach stage (on a beach)with instant alternate out fits the girls fight in swim suits no matter what the selected out fit was.

Thursday My newsletter is going to go over the modes I have in mind and the whole cast/backstory. Pm me if you'd like to read it

And Yes Chick fight is a working title could all change in a heart beat.

Nudity isn't a bad thing in a game. The problem with nudity so far is that it was used to try and cover up a crappy game (recently BMX XXX).

It's just like that PC game KingPin. The only thing it had going for it? It was the only game to use the words fuck and mother fucker. The game sucked, the company knew it, so they slapped obscenities so immature douche bags would buy it and go "huh, huh, huh... they said motherfucker... huh, huh, huh"
