Sorry dude, PSIII is easily the worst. It's not a bad RPG, but it wasn't created by the same team that made all the other games. Gfx, music, and story just aren't on a par with the others.

Phantasy Star II is a MAN's game. Fucking hard, hard, old-school RPG with a great story, killer tunes, and dungeons that'll make you pull your hair out.

Phantasy Star IV is a beautiful game that is a lot easier than the other chapters, but is insanely fun and sports some of the best graphics on the system. Music is incredible too.
Story ties up everything as well.

Tough call between the two. PSIII is hands down the worst though.

I agree with the fact that 3 is the worst of the bunch. On Genesis (because I feel that this, and PSO are pretty much tied), I would have to say PS4. The game's incredible. Great graphics and a very very good story. Still, if you're used to Final Fantasy, you're going to find this tough. It's not nearly as hard as PS2, which is darn near impossible at times, but still a good challange.

PSII is great, but it's very very old. It's got a rewarding level up system since it's so tough, but just about everything points to 4 being the best.

well, I didn't WIN it yet. Im just high bidder with 1 day and 7 hrs left. fifty cents outbids me so maybe I won't get this "obviously the worst" game after all.

Sorry for the blunt honesty, but if I were you, I'd let someone else "win" this one. :(

From favorite to least:

I might like PS2 more, because of nostalgia. The game is epic. And the fact that it took awhile to beat the game w/out using any help. It came w/ official hintbook when it cameout, because it was fairly hard. I got it used, so no such luck.

PS4 was very expensve. I got it for cheap, or so I thought--$79 when it cameout. But it was defintely fun. This game was very playable, and easy to get into. I would recommend this game first to newbies of the PS series.

PS3...I still like it alot, but comparing to the 2 above games, this game is abit inferior. I guess one of my problem is that the game itself is abit, simplistic? I liked the medieval themes, personally. And it did tie nicely w/ the overall PS series theme.

PS1--no comparison. Having played it later than all the rest, couldn't really get into it.

While 3 may be the dog of the series, you guys are making it sound like it's an unplayable piece of crap. When in fact, it is a fine game in it's own right. Easily the 3rd best RPG on the Genesis, right behind parts 4 and 2.

I say get it, play it, enjoy it for what it is, and then move on to PS4.

Hands down, 2 was my favorite. Everythign about it was beautiful. Logical magic tiers, good story, nice graphics and very, very catchy musics. Everyone and anyone who has a Genesis/Nomad must own this game.

4 was good too, a must buy. It is closer in format to #2 than #3

3 sucked. Nothing's worse than an RPG where the only fighting animation a huge dragon does is twitch its finger at you. But you may want to play through it anyway just for completeness.

Phantasy star 2 was definately the best, and is one of my all time favorite RPGs on any console.
But PS3 wasnt THAT bad... The graphics werent as good, and the monster animations were lame, but the story was good, and i liked the generations aspect.

No way would I say it's the 3rd best. I mean first you would have to discount the Shining Forces due to that there considered strategy, then you would have to take out Warsong.

^^^ Like Final Fantasy games ;>

PSIV is my fave but PSII is close behind. Best 2D traditional non-action RPGs I've ever played.

Sega 3D Ages is a godsend, no matter what reviewers think.
