Dude, why does Sammy/ASW feel the need to release a Guilty Gear game every other month? This shit is getting stupid now.
We don't need an update every time you tweak the fucking game.
I wish Sammy/ASW would just create another series or something.

I don't know, I think it is kind of a funny title... I like it! Kind of an Engrish side joke of all the SF2 iterations. Anyway, Atomiswave is fucking cheap as hell... $500 or so for Guilty Gear XX kit these days with mainboard. Can't argue with that if you enjoy the games, or for Arcade ops for that matter. I keep telling myself I should grab an Atomiswave sometime soon, before some amazing software gets released and the price just skyrockets. Anyway,

Two series that have more than enough sequels with updates smaller than the ones they put in the new GGX game to be called "gouging the fans".
I'm sure you own more than your fair share of those titles, so please call a spade a spade.
As for the game itself, well I hate the multi-plane stuff in Fatal Fury and I don't see myself liking it much in GGX. Manual Turning just sounds so friggin wierd I donno how well it's going to work.
Definitely going to have to be a "try before I buy" title.
I think GGXX is an okay fighter at best. It is flashy as all hell and fun to watch, but it never really did it for me. But 4 player, 2 plane combat for some reason has peaked my interest in this. If it is done right I could see this game doing quite well.

I commented on the fact that the title for the game simply says "Newest version" as in "Hey, its the newest version of Guilty Gear, we all know you're going to buy it, and you'll buy the next GG game too, it'll be called 'Newer Version'". At least Capcom comes up with a ridiculous title with every installment of Street Fighter.
I never said gouging the customer was something Sammy and Sammy alone practiced.

You beat me to it. All except not liking the multi-plane setup. I always thought that was a kind cool addition to a 2D fighter (it's about as 3D as some early "3D" fighters were, since they only used a side step move and not actually allow you to run around in a 3D environment).
So now you were just commenting on the title, despite the fact that the article said it was tenative.
Of course you mention that Sammy is GOUGING the fans and anyone who buys it is a "feeb".
But obviously you understand that Capcom and SNK are both capable of gouging the fans, but you've probably bought plenty of their equivalent titles. Guess that would make you a "feeb" along with the rest of us eh? shame

I love fighters and I will surely get this game. I don't care that they release a new version every couple of months. Guilty Gear is a great series that people need to check out.

The inclusion of all new BG's and characters, plus the dual-plane shifting and the turn-around button would be enough to warrant calling it a different game I think.
The BG's at least would have to be new, to allow for the plane shifting, and there would also have to be some sprite redesigning to reflect the characters changing planes.
Sounds interesting anyway.

I frankly don't know what the lesser of two evils is...pimping slight revisions of a game while it's hot (GGXX), or milking the fans of a dead game company by pushing out a corpse under a heat lamp with some fresh makeup (SvC).
Honestly, I think 2D fans are just kinda fucked now. Be it SNES remakes on the GBA, or recyclables from Playmore on the Neo, has ANYONE drawn a new sprite lately? Besides those lovely bastards at Konami (hugs and kisses, keep the Castlevanias coming).

Just got back from the arcade, I somehow managed to kick some guy's ass at GGXX:Reloaded (or whatever it's called). I spent all last night dicking around with Baiken on my DC version of GGX (or whatever it's called).
I like Baiken, she's a katana wielding Japanese prostitute missing an arm and an eye.
That's my kinda woman.
Anyway my extremely mad Samurai Spirits skillz were enough to kick this GG fanboy's ass. He'd throw a combo at me, I'd block it, then hit him with a HS, lather rinse repeat.
Again, GG's no SS, but it's still entertaining.

You people are forgetting the most important new thing: 4 players simultaneously! That's why there are 2 planes a la Fatal Fury (it would be confusing having all 4 fighters at the same time in the same plane during all the fight), and you need to use a button to change facing, in case you have one opponent on each side.
So this is just a multiplayer version of GGXX and that's all.
