Question:
Is GTA: Vice City selling well in Japan?

How does the average gamer in Japan feel about it?

What do long-time Japanese game makers like Shigeru Miyamoto and Hideo Kojima think about this game?

GTA3 represents the exact opposite of what Japanese Gamers want to play. Different kinds of fun for different peoples and cultures.

I know Im not a big fan of GTA3 and Vice, but I grew up playing differrnt types of games.

The same can be said for Mortal Kombat and most FPS games.

the GTA Series is a bit overated. people think it's all about killing people and Carjacking

They ignore the fact you can do stunts in the game among other things

It's not my cup of tea but I do laugh my ass off watching people play it

I don't know about GTA but another Rockstar Game Max Payne was impossible to find a Japanese Publisher for. I think the reaction they got was "We don't want this shit"

I'll bet if Japanese Filmmaker/Comedian/Sports Guru/Artist "Beat" Takeshi Kitano made a Yakuza game endorsed by him where you could play as him or any number of stoic bad asses running off the GTA III engine it sell like a motherfuckah in Japan.

I just wanted to add in that Rockstar is the next Eidos. One franchise that they will milk to death and then in a few years, people will start to ignore them.

History repeats itself. Like Eidos, Rockstar probably think they have a golden touch. Remember how Eidos/Core tried to reinvent genres with Fight Force and Ninja? Rockstar already tried to reinvent something with State of Emergency and failed. Just like Eidos.

Not to say that all their product is shit, just that they are mediocre and nothing compared to companies that cant seem to sell as much as they do.

Videogames are not longer what they used to be and its becoming like movies where shitty big budget shit make the money while the good stuff gets less monetairy rewards, thus they make less of it.

Is there actually going to be a State of emergancy 2?
I thought it was just that 'Evil Dead - A fist Full of Boomstick' was using the SOE engine.

I find GTA to be fun but Vice city is really really REALLY annoying. The game is sooo F*** glitched it's not worth playing twice my file crashed and both times i had 50+ hidden packages. It sucks so much to see all that hard work pissed away.

never erased mine. And I've been playing since the day it came out. You using an offical sony memory card? maybe it's the card that's fucked up. unless it's your copy of the game

it's the real card. But apparently GTA vice city has been notorious for freeze ups and such.

I find it funny that people look down on GTA fans as lower class and crass. Yknow what? It's a game.. it's a fun, revolutionary game. Nobody did anything like it and they're reaping the benefits. You don't like it? Oh well! A LOT of people do...

I happen to love both games. Yeah, they've got some problems, but yknow what? EVERY game has a glitch or two. Just because I like the GTA series doesn't make me a lesser person.

Who cares what Japanese people think of the game.. this is the bigger market.

I like all the gta games, they have there moments but i don't play them for the same reasons as most if not all those namby pamby mainstream boys do. I didn't like SoE but it's theme song was cool, but then I like MS4 over MS3 so what do I know...
