Being a lithium-ion rechargable it should last longer than 3 years. I have had my Clie longer than that and the battery is still fine.
And doesn't that screw in the center of the back in this picture look like it is holding a door closed?

Maybe they should have gone with AA batteries.
If your battery runs out, and you want to play, you have to wait 3 hours to charge.
If it was AA, you could just put in new batteries.

Well, it's the same deal with a cell phone... If you need to make a call but you didn't charge your phone you're screwed. All this means is you'll need to get in the habit of charging when you're not playing and you'll be fine... I think a rechargable battery is a great idea, and as long as it comes with a plug to charge it (which I'm assuming it does) this idea certainly sounds better than feeding the thing batteries.
I am so getting one of these. I'm so glad I held off on getting an afterburner kit now, plus the screen on my old GBA got scratched and I was thinking of replacing it. For the cost of a replacement GBA, the afterburner kit and the cost of labor to install the thing, this new GBA ends up being basically free... Awesome.

if i get the GBASP, will I need a converter to plug the charger into my wall?

Nope, it comes with an AC adapter. So you see, the $99 price tag isn't so bad after all.
BTW: Happy birthday man!

Thanks, I got $100 which goes towards this nice system and some shirts which I will never wear.
I got the answer from Talen, I guess japan has the same voltage that the US does so no worries.
