Can someone out there who owns both these games tell me the honest difference between the two? I own Neo Geo Cup' 98, and I noticed some screenshots of SuperSidekicks 3 that looked....identical. Did they just change the title to cash-in on the 1998 World Cup? Why, in 1998, would the copy supersidekicks 3 instead of supersidekicks 4?

NGCUP'98 is actually an upgrade of SSK2.
Not much added really. It makes you feel like
they just changed the artwork and snap-lock case
and 'bum' you have a new soccer game. eek_2

Another thing I just noticed, If you look at the top of the screen at the very beginning of a match you catch a quick glance of a JumboTron' TV. What does the TV show? Of course, The SuperSidekicks logo!

Does this officially make this Game SuperSidekicks 5? I would think so. I mean, Ultimate 11 doesn't actually say SuperSidekicks on it and it is officially considered supersidekicks 4.

Neo Geo Cup '98 is Super Sidekicks 3 with some extras like new playfield colors, different country flags, changed/added music, adjusted team names, a new title screen, new endings, etc. It had been released to coincide with the soccer world cup of 1998, but most ppl shunned it because of its similarity to SSK3.

Gameplay in SSK3 and NGC98 is roughly the same, perhaps they adjusted a few parameters for single players as some of them feel a lil' quicker. Surprisingly, NGC98 is cheaper than SSK3, so if you have the choice between the two, get NGC98.

If you have these figures from the price guide, they're clearly wrong, because most auctions I saw, including the one for my own NGC98, was way below any auction for SSK3. I bought my NGC98 in mint condition for $65 + shipping, and I've never seen it reaching more than $80-90 during the last year.

Woah. $120 for NGC98? Ppl must be desperate. That's definitely too much. Guess I was lucky with my copy then, six months ago ppl didn't give a fukk for the game. 'round here (Germany), SSK3 always sells for way more than NGC98.

I think it is really cool that you picked up the cart for that price. Maybe the price has been recently increased in the price guide too, I havn't been around in the neo community that long. It must be reassuring to see a cart in your collection go up in value wink . congrats

I have the SSKs on CD (except 4 of course), SSK1 and 2 on cart and always wanted a SSK3 cart as well, but after a bit of NGC98 playing on MVS, I figured that it's best to get this 'upgraded SSK3' instead. Then I started looking for either one and any auction or selling thread I found asked more for SSK3, so I bought NGC98.

I didn't expect that such an 'obscure' Neo sports game would make price jumps like that. Oh well.

I have personally never seen NGCUP'98
sell for under $100. While SSK3, I have
seen it sold for $50+shipping JP ver. The
US ver always goes for a little over $80,
probably over $100 if the condition is MINT.

The last two NGCup'98 games I saw
on ebay did not sell for less than $130. Here
on the forums, I was offered one for $180,
Joe McCabe has one for $150.

Thank You,

Jorge

You seem to really keep track of the Aes going prices, you need to upgrade yourself to an Aes analyst!
