For me, it was a Q-bert color LCD Mini arcade game. You now, the ones you carry around, put it up on the table, and play till your hearts content? It even had a little joystick, and the LCD graphics really wasn't that bad, and you could play in the dark! I got it at this really cool garage sale that had all kinds of neato toys! I was pretty young, but I don't remember the exact age.

How about you folks?

My first system was a NES closely followed by an Atari Lynx.

No joke, my very first "video game" (well, sort of...) was an electric version of Pong (that was in the 70s).

It was driven by batteries, and it was basically a box about the size of a small TV set, with a half transparent front which showed the "Pong lawn".

The ball was a small light bulb, enclosed in rubber and fixed on an arm, which was attached to an oscillating motor, and there were two paddle-style buttons on the lower left and right which controlled the bats. Really weird. The device had a mechanical point counter, and made lots of noise.

I remember playing it for hours with my sister. I was about 6 or 7 years at that time, and I don't remember what happened with this strange electric video game. Guess it broke and my parents threw it away back then.

Would be a nice collectors item now I guess.

The first "real" video game I got was "Mondlandung" (Moon Lander) for the Commodore PET.

First game I ever played was probably some variant of Space Invaders.

First game I ever got for home use was Way of The Exploding Fist for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k+.

I still have it somewhere... I wish I could still play it - it was fucking brilliant!!

First game I ever bought with my own money was Outrun... now I remember that like it was yesterday....

If only I could go back...I'd have no Neo Geo but...things were more innocent back then...the industry is not the huge corporate monster it is now...

All I have left is memories... of a golden era... <IMG SRC="smilies/redface.gif" border="0">

My first video game was Super Mario/Duck Hunt, Major League Baseball and Zelda. I had to share those with my older brother though (christmas gift). I think the first game I had that I could call my own was Contra. Best Easter present ever.
