How many characters are in the Korean alphabet? It seems like it would be alot easier to lears, since it is alot more geometric then the stylized and aristic Japanese kana and kanji.

Any online tutorials?

im not exactly sure, but from what neogml told me theres around 30 some odd characters.

the language is EXTREMELY easy to learn, that is comapred to japanese anyway, because the written language is phonetic, based on sound

why do you want to lear korean?

24 letters in the Korean alphabet. It's extremely easy to learn. Anyone can learn the rudimentary basics in less than 2 hours but will take many more hours of practice. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

As the only "specifically-created" language in the world, it's a cinch to learn.

Try any local college book stores. There are many good "Korean 101" books that you can buy. Otherwise, just do a Google search.

Yes, a monarch (can't remember which one and what year) commissioned his "advisors" to make an alphabet that would allow the common people a chance at reading and writing. While the words evolved over the years and became slightly mixed with Chinese and Japanese, the alphabet and language structure itself is a scientific creation.

korean is a really cool language just for the alphabet. writing seems easy, and that makes it fun to learn. Of course, if you want to learn for real, you need a fluent korean speaker, because of pronounciation issues. I recommend it. I can't remember much korean anymore, but in highschool my friends tried to teach me,a nd it was very very cool. Besides, skinny korean chicks are hot.

This is awesome! I've found a website that has a very nice tutorial, including windows media files of the pronounciations of all the sounds for all the letters, including combinations! Korean is easy! Now I just nedd to learn what the words mean!
