Quite some game eh? A true blue classic as far as I'm concerned. What were your memories of this game?

I remember laughing at Glass Joe (still do) and how 4 years old could beat him. But I remember Von Kaiser... being intimidated as hell. He was pretty tough at first but you could TKO him in under a minute. Great character that Von Kaiser...

Piston Honda... WHOA. The first BIG boy of the game you'll encounter. Remember the utter satisfaction the first time you beat him? Don Flamenco... boring annoying guy. King Hippo was interesting. That Tiger Indian guy was tough at first, but he was taken out like yesterday's garbage once you figured him out.

Insert Bald Bull. WHAT A BAD ASS CHARACTER. He was Abobo in boxing gloves. Remember the intimidation factor upon first glance of the giant? Damn. And remember the gut blow counter to his Bull Charge? Sweet.

Revamped Piston Honda, easy. Soda. Holy crap. I never beat that guy. He was tough as nails. Anyone beat him?

I used passwords for Macho and Mike. SHIT. Even harder than Soda, who I thought was impossible. Anyone here ever beat Macho or Mike?

What an awesome game. I like the sequel, but like they said, nothing beats an original. Nintendo needs to bring back Little Mac and Bald Bull!

Memories? Hell, I still play the game. Played it about two weeks ago until a friend came over and borrowed it.

HAVE to get it back from him!

This game still rules IMO, one of the best boxing games ever.

Dude, I used to play that game fanatically back in the day.

Soda Popinski? Tough at first, but once you got his patterns down, no problem.

Macho? Another toughie, but not impossible. When he does his spin punch, you have to duck every hit as he spins, which means tapping down furiously.

Mike I have never been able to beat.

My favorite part of that game was the quotes the opponents had between rounds.

"TKO from TOKYO!" -Piston Honda

"I got nothin' against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children."...oh wait... that was Dreaderick Tatum from The Simpsons

That game kicked major ass. I remember playing that game so much that I would go from Glass Joe and Tyson no sweat.

Hey remember that game called "Punch Out" It was the exactly the same as "Mike Tyson's Punch Out" except without Mike Tyson

That white guy Mr. Dream was no replacement. I was always jealous of my cousin, since he had Mike Tysons Punch-out!, and I only had Punch-Out. Damn Nintendo dropping the sponsorship of Tyson.

I remember spending the night at my friend's house for a week playing this game all night every night! I took us quite along time to figure out the Great Tiger's pattern. I remember how exiting it was to finally get it. Sinse his tv was so small it took forever to see that his jewel flashes before he swings.

Funny thing is that I only beat Mike a few years ago. My hardest opponent was Macho Man.

This game along with Pro Wrestling still rules.

Dudes,

You definitely have some serious taste. MT's Punch Out is easily one of the top 5 NES games. Can't explain why either, it's just damn fun every time. Good tunes, insanely fun figuring out how to beat new guys, and a definite instant flashback piece to the great golden days of old school gaming. I never beat Tyson tho
Macho Man's spin punches SUCK!!!!

I beat the whole game numerous times.

Anyone ever played the arcade versions?

Opponents were:

Punch Out: Glass Joe, Piston Hurricane(looked like Apollo Creed from Rocky), Bald Bull, Kid Quick(looked like afro thunder), Pizza Pasta(looked like Rocky Marciano) and Mr. Sandman

Super Punch Out-Bear Hugger, Dragon Chan, Vodka Drukenski(early version of Soda Popenski), Great Tiger, and Super Macho Man.

Yup, I could never beat Kid Quick. Super Punch Out was just too easy, but still a great sequel

Never did beat Tyson... Super Punchout was fun too.
Actually, I can place part of the blame on this game for me being the gamer that I am. My mom was impressed by this game enough to get us a NES.

One word: WOW!!

I remember being in 6th grade when my friend got it and rushing to his house with my bike just to play it after school when he called me to say he had this game... I bought it (ok my parents bought it ) something like 1 week later and I was so much into it I just couldn't stop playing. I remember having KO'ed Tyson in the 2nd round once and beating it by TKO or ref decision 5-6 times but if I take in consideration the number of times I fought him, I would have to say that he whipped my ass a lot more than I beat him... Remember his lighting uppercuts in the first 1:30 of the 1st round?
