Well, I reserved my copy of FFX around a month ago and have been waiting anxiously ever since. Then on Saturday I received my first PS2 playable demo disc (Playstation Underground). There are two parts that you are able to play on the demo. And, let me say FFX is indeed very impressive graphically, however I am somewhat upset by some of the changes they have made to the tried and true formula which has been since FF7. First up Tidus seems to be the videogame equivalent of a backstreet boy, complete with corny voice (why voices, isn't that a big square no-no?). Not to mention when he is given his first sword by Auron (not sure if that's his name, but he is the older man with sunglasses and the bad-ass atitude) he flails it like a wuss. What happened to the cold, quiet type seen in previous games? Second, I definetly do not like the linear gameplay. I mean your map shows you where you are supposed to go and that is pretty much it, no searching out secrets here and there. It has also been said that there isn't suppose to be much of a overworld map. Finally, the character designs are somewhat of a re-hash of FF8, except for our backstreet boy hero Tidus. Anyway, I'm sure it will end up being a great game, it's just I wanted to get these rants out in the open where they can be discussed. -Steve
