Well, I reserved my copy of FFX around a month ago and have been waiting anxiously ever since. Then on Saturday I received my first PS2 playable demo disc (Playstation Underground). There are two parts that you are able to play on the demo. And, let me say FFX is indeed very impressive graphically, however I am somewhat upset by some of the changes they have made to the tried and true formula which has been since FF7. First up Tidus seems to be the videogame equivalent of a backstreet boy, complete with corny voice (why voices, isn't that a big square no-no?). Not to mention when he is given his first sword by Auron (not sure if that's his name, but he is the older man with sunglasses and the bad-ass atitude) he flails it like a wuss. What happened to the cold, quiet type seen in previous games? Second, I definetly do not like the linear gameplay. I mean your map shows you where you are supposed to go and that is pretty much it, no searching out secrets here and there. It has also been said that there isn't suppose to be much of a overworld map. Finally, the character designs are somewhat of a re-hash of FF8, except for our backstreet boy hero Tidus. Anyway, I'm sure it will end up being a great game, it's just I wanted to get these rants out in the open where they can be discussed. -Steve

The graphics look great, but I'm not sure about the character design. I will be buying it for sure, but I know nothing about it almost. Keeping it a surprise for myself. That may be good or really bad. We'll see.

I'm playing through the japanese version... nice graphics but nowhere near the magic of FF7... characters are lame and uninteresting...
Squaresoft seems to have lose his magic touch...

Square lost it when they went into Final Fantasy Milking. Seriously though, what RPGs came out a while after FFVIII that were good OTHER THAN REMAKES OF GAMES AND FF? Not many...not many at all.

Front Mission 3 was good. Give Square that much at least.

And my first impression after playing the FFX demo... Boring!

Plus I don't care what you people say, I was not impressed by the graphics. Doesn't seem like we're improving at all, mainly because the textures look ass ugly.

I wont try to pass judgment on the story because hell, it was just a demo after all. Something about the one called "Sin"...Whatever.

Basically the same thing we've been playing 9 times before.

Speaking of that demo disc...I did enjoy the Extermination demo, even if it was just some running to a switch and shooting a couple of oversized leeches. Too bad the train hit me.

In conclusion: Square should make the FFF.

Final
Final
Fantasy

But I'm sure they'll just end up making sequels to that because it will sell so well with people thinking there will be no more FF games... The FF games will be here for a long, long, time.

Well, I haven't played Front Mission 3 (heard it was good and looked good, but i didnt knwo when it came out). There were some great games after FFVII (Xenogears, Vagrant Story i think, etc), but after FFVIII it went bleh.

hah.
get shadowhearts.
its different and
finally a decent rpg.
my friends dont believe that
ffx is dumb but i think its lacking.
you cant make a game based on just how
good it looks.
dont get ffx.
unless you want a really stupid ending
from what i heard.
screw it all.
i m playing skies of arcadia.
quite possibly one of my now top rpgs.
ive gotten tired or rpgs long ago
so it has to be something rather special
for me to enjoy whatever that comes out.
