Thunderforce 4.
Known as Lightning Force in the good old North American Continent, Thunderfirce 4 was released in the later portion of 1992 on the venerable SEGA Genesis gaming console. Being the third 'Force' game to appear on the Genesis, part 4 had a lot to live up to. The previous two games were excellent, especially part 3.
Now, back to the game. All I have to say is that this game does impress on a number of areas. The gameplay has been tweaked in a very interesting way. The game play is similar to 3, but this time, thy have allowed a lot of room to move vertically. Up and down, the ganeplay area probably covers 2 screens. Very cool stuff.
Visually, this is one of the fine examples of what the SEGA Genesis was capable of. This game is in the same league, graphically, as Shinobi 3, Hard Corps, Gunstar, and the Sonics. Lots of line scrolling and Parallax (things I like in my 16 bit games).
Weapons are great. We have good variety and they are mosty effective. I really enjoyed the weapon system in this game. Really good fun stuff.
Sound is good. The voice is grainey (like in all Genny games, really). Music stands out as something really catchy, but again, it is somewhat held back by the sound chip in the Gennny.
Pick up this game, I dont care how, and enjoy the fuck out of it. Uncle Rade sais so.
