X-Box DVD Playback Kit woes..

My X-Box DVD PLayback Kit is defective and I was just wondering if any of you have experienced the same problem or have heard reports of defective units being shipped.

Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn't. It doesn't matter what controller port I use or what DVD I'm trying to play... becuase about 90% of the time I still get the message to insert the DVD Playback kit even though it's already in.

It COULD be the X-Box itself, but it plays all my CDs and games fine, and on the ocassions that the DVD PLayback DOES work, the DVDs play fine too.

Sounds like the DVD kit may have bad contacts. I have a friend that had this problem. It might be best if you returned it for a new one.

Supposedly there is a 1:1,000 ratio of DVD kits that have been having detection problems. Microsoft is supposed to release a version 2 that will update drives and eliminate this problem. You might want to contact customer service to resolve this problem.
