Pick up a copy of samurai shodown 1 or 2. The games are reasonably cheap and have a nice replay value. tickled

get a Euro Kizuna Encounter.
not funny :D
yeah it was glee . But seriously though, get games that fit your style of gaming, I am not going to ramble through a list of games that you may or may not like. It's up to you. You've been on here for a while, check out this site for reviews etc.

There's two that instantly come to mind:

KOF '98, for tons of replay and a great fighting engine with really pretty graphics.

Metal Slug 3, for tons of replay and probably the best graphics on the Neo.

Either one of these games will keep you plenty occupied for a long time, while you save up for your next game purchase. By the way, congrats on getting your Neo Geo! :)

Im leanin tward ff3 or sam sho 3 cause Im kind strapped for cash :D
Well then you might want to hold off on a purchase until you can build up your funds.

Not saying those games are shitty, but the difficulty level on both of them are rather high compared to other fighters. I'm afraid you'll get them, get discouraged because they're so difficult, and sell your whole sha-bang regretting the decision to jump into Neo Geo. I may be wrong, but I think you should "cut your Neo teeth" on something else.

FF3 is not hard IMHO but certainly Samurai 3 is.

However and for just a bit more you can get FFRB which is a superb game that you may want to take into account.

You can also buy KOF 96 for very cheap, and it is an awesome game. The same goes for Samurai 1 and 2.

i personally own 61 neo home carts, but started 3 years ago in the same situation as you, strapped for cash. If you're not going to spend $$$, you're not going to get the best games, but games like AOF, SSII, baseball stars, magician lord, nam '75 are all classics that will provide you with hours and hours of entertainment for reasonable prices. Just my $0.02.

Also, just my opinion, but if you're going to drop $90-$100 on ss3 or ff3, you might as well get real bout for around the same price, its a much better game i/m/o.

I'm not the worst fighting game player in the world, but I just thought Fatal Fury 3 was stupid hard. Real Bout fixed this and still remained challenging.

But then, you may like harder games than I do, so whatever floats your boat. What do you plan on buying when you have more money? Any plans yet?

If you are into collecting, expect to spend a lot of funds. Or if you are a gamer, you should get the adapter so you can play MVS carts. MVS as you know is much cheeeeeper, mon.

Game series every Neo Geo collection should have: (IMO)

King of Fighters
Metal Slug
Samurai Showdown
Last Blade
MOTW

Get at least one from each series (save MOTW cuz there only is one) and you will have TONS of excellent gameplay experiences. Pretty much all of these games are available in a format that is (in the worst case) moderately affordable. Some of the them are very affordable.

Heres the list of games I own

FFS, FF2, SS2, AOF2, KOF 94, Fire suplex, MOTW

Out of all of them I would suggest

FFS, SS2, KOF 94 and MOTW

AOF2 maybe if I play against A human player I would enjoy it more but it against the PC i just cant get into it.

FFS is a pretty good games, Nice selection of characters and pretty solid gameplay IMO

SS2 I like this one allot the character design is great

I go the first KOF cause I had never played a KOF in my life other then 98 DM on DC for 5 minutes. I wanted to start at the first one, but since you seem to have lots of neo geo experience I suggest a latter KOF so you have team edit function.

MOTW I don't even have to say why I love this game :)

Game I dont have but really want is Last blade

Samurai Spirits (showdown) 2 best value (price and replay value). it's a must have title anyway and will only cost you like $50.

One of the earlier KOFS like 94 or 95. Also, you can get Fatal Fury 2 for about $20-$30 or so. FF2 is pretty challenging, even on Easy.
