Title says it all.

The XBOX is Playmore post got me thinking.

Nothing doesnt count as an answer.

which is a tough question who wants to mess with the 2d formula that's worked for so long.

But what diddn't work on the PSone might on an XBOX.

Soul Claiber like Samuari Showdown anyone?

Said it before, I'll say it again. I want ports of the SS64 games to a newer system, with a facelift and a "game speed" option. Voila.

I also think that Last Blade could work very well in 3D.

What is it with this forum and Xbox owners?
Jesus.
Why not "What SNK games would be good in 3D on the Gamecube"
Or (dare I say it) the PS2?

Pfft. Player-haters suck.

Which brings me to an interesting point- why is it the prevalent attit00d seems to be "If it's not on Neo*Geo, it SUX"?

Ikari Warriors was never (AFAIK) on the Neo, neither was Crystalis. Does that mean that they automatically "SUX"?

IMO, it doesn't matter if it's on the Dreamcast, the Neo, the PS2 or the friggin' Game Boy! SNK games are SNK games!

In short, hate not the player... :p

EDIT: Elitists also suck. You know, the ones who constantly deride you for your gaming tastes and monetary status (or lack thereof)? Yeah. Those. Really, many of them remind me of my DL board experiences with Dion, who never left me alone due to me being a WH fan in the face of adversity, and for not owning my first (and to date, only) NGH until 1994. Not everyone's rich with way too much time on their hands. Deal.

Agreed. No SNK game should be "remade" into a 3D counterpart.

If they could pull it off (that's really really fucking big ass IF), then LB and SS would be cool.

As far as on the X-Box, who fucking cares what system it's on? Hell, why not for the Hyper Neo Geo 64 instead?

I atually think that, given the mechanics of its last official game, that Art of Fighting would make the best transition to 3D out of SNK's fighting serieses. After that some kind of 3D Cyber-Lip would be cool but hard to market.

Try a Cube controller on a fighter? I rest my Case.

And PS2 doesn't seem to handle anything well

Despite my soul, which says "Hell no!", I'm going to listen to logic and say that given enough time, investment, and clever thinking, many of these games could make the transition if pulled off in the correct way. If you look at Contra: Shattered Soldier and R-Type Delta, these are games that made the transition quite nicely from 2D to 3D, solely because the gameplay was LEFT ALONE. I'd love to see a high-powered 2.5D sequel to Last Resort, or a simply balls-out follow-up to Viewpoint (NOT like the sorry ass PS version.) Baseball Stars would also be a great candidate for an AM2-like makeover, if only because the gameplay was literally 3D anyway. I'd love to see those wacked-out characters from that game come to life with some fancy 3D models.

When CvS was released, what was the hottest selling peripheral for the Dreamcast?

The ascii fighting pad. And of course the Ascii fighting stick, which was nowhere to be found.

Anyhow, no current system offers a decent medium for playing a fighting game out of the box. It doesn't mean that there's no hope though. Some company like Ascii might make a fighting pad for the X-Box and Gamecube, just as they did for the PS2 and DC. Yeah, control sucks out of the box though, no system other than the neo has been good for fighters with the pack in controller.

Crossed Swords could work really well. You could make it a rail-based game sort of like Space Harrier or the such only with you running along the ground/around obstacles any which way. Give the player the ability to stop the scrolling any time to battle monsters, etc. So in a way you could run right to the boss but you'd get your ass kicked if you didn't fight at least SOME monsters to pick up better weapons/etc.

If that sells well they could make a Deus Ex clone from The Super Spy.

I love my Ascii stick but the Pads on the other one went all nutty and eventaully thought they always pressed down.

The XBOX controller XXL is good for fighters yeah I know but I've practiced and it works well.

The D-Pad on the X-Box controller is the worst. Even the Wonderswan is better for fighting games.

I guess it helps when the large portion of what is released on the system is fighters... not that I am complaining. They also do the direct to home from arcade thing, so they needed a similar setup with the home system.

Now if M$, $ony or Nintendo was primarily an arcade company and they were doing direct to home ports and not much else, we'd probably get kick ass pack in controllers...

That's a not bad idea actually making the Hyper 64 games be more updated and have more ploygon rate. It could help Playmore/SNK out alot monywise. :)
