1.) Is anyone famillar with the program that you can download to the Flash card to play NES games on the wonderswan?

2.) Does anyone know where i can find some translated wonderswan roms?

3.) Where can I buy some d-pads for the tops of the x and y buttons?

That device is called the Wonderwitch, and needs hefty Japanese skills to navigate, granted you can FIND one.

NO ROM BEGGING HERE! However other members might know some rom sites (I think we know the one, especially Tora Kouhi ;) ). Try using a SEARCH engine perhaps? They cant be THAT hard to find.

3.) Where can I buy some d-pads for the tops of the x and y buttons?
Ahh, the wondercoin. Dont bother they SUCK BADLY. If you're worried about bad controls because of the segmented joypad, dont be, for the shooter/RPGs/puzzlers I have it works like a charm.

translated Wonderswan games? I only know of the Wonderborg english edition and Wizardry.

Rest are homebrew, I guess, and some homebrews are very good, I hear, but I never tried any of them because I don't have a wonderwitch, and the wonderwitch is crap. You can only make a small game with it - I guess to prevent people from copying the licensed games like FFIV onto the flash card.

As for the system, it's okay. I think FF1 and FFIV are extremely worthwhile games even though japanese only - I played both enough times to go through without knowing what people say. Besides, there's like 10+ faqs for each game.

A d-pad cover... I know I wish it had a better pad, but the wondercoin is crap in my opinion. You get it free with either Guilty Gear or Guilty Gear 2. Don't buy GG1 - GG2 is 10x better.

Both FF1 and 2 on the WSC have (incomplete) translation patches out there.

Alright, So Ive read up on these products, but you guys are confusing me...

The Wonder Which is used for creating your own wonderswan games, which then you can transfer to the magic card to use on wonderswan.

The Magic Linker is a product that you insert a magic card into, which then you can transfer .ws or .wscfiles from the wonderswan (aka backup your cartriges) to you PC, or you can put .ws or .wsc files (roms or homebrews) onto your magic linker, then to the Magic card to play on your WS. Now my questions are, do I need WonderWitch to play the NES Emu on WS?

I've never tried the Famicom emulator, but I'm assuming you'll either need a WonderSwan PC linker...which exist, but I don't know where to get one or you should be able to use the WonderWitch set-up, which can be found but will probably cost at least $100 or more....you can probably use either, you just need to get the files onto a WS compatible cartridge.

The WonderWitch is actually a very very cool concept, more so than any other official fan-dev kit has ever been. Where the Net Yaroze and PS2 Linux kits have been jokes, the WonderWitch actually allows you to use the full power of the system.

I've only ever played one WonderWitch game, the 2001 Grand Prix winner, Judgement Silversword>

Cool ass vertical shooter, some of the graphics were really so-so though.

Expect no english support for the WonderWitch and..in fact...don't even expect the software to run on your PC. It's most likely a JWin only program.

Finally, the NES emulator isn't all that cool, you can only get about half of the game onto the screen. So some games it won't be that big of a hassle but some just won't be worth it.

You can IPS patch rom files to be english. All you need is the patcher and the IPS file.

Alright, I think Im catchin on. If I want to patch the English Patch to a .ws file, do I NEED a backup card with a rom, or can I write directley to the Cartridge i want to tranlate, aka an official cartridge. I guess im asking are the official cartriges Rewritable? Are there only Writeable cartriges available for the linker? And can someone tell me where i can find some tranlations, either patches or roms?

I am pretty sure that you can NOT. If you could, a bootlegger could just buy a ton of cheap carts, flash a more expensive cart to it, and sell it for profit. And what did I say before? NO ROM BEGGING HERE! <img src="graemlins/blowtop.gif" border="0" alt="[Blow Top]" /> <img src="graemlins/veryangry.gif" border="0" alt="[Very Angry]" /> <img src="graemlins/shame.gif" border="0" alt="[Shame]" />

If you have the thing to dump roms you can copy them from the cart onto your computer, patch them, and then play on an emulator.

But the emulators arent very good, so there isnt any point.

Alright, a couple last questions. How easy is the MAgic Linker to use? I suppose its all japanese, but is it pretty self explanatory? And If i copy, say, FF to my PC, then pacth it, a translation to the rom that is, i can copy the patched file to a Magic card and play it on my Wonderswan, right?
