hey alls.no this has nothing to do with emulation or piracy so put down ur weapons!

i remember a long long time ago watching a computer show and they had theese pc's that were compatible with saturn games! complete with controller ports and all. but i realy dont remember any of the details..i think it just came as a feature in some computers.

does anyone know anything about this? maybe it was cancelled? does anyone have one or know how to get a kit for installing one?

well, im not sure about an entire PC, but there were video cards released a while back (I was searching for one for quite some time and I can't even remember the name now) that had Saturn Controller ports on it for use with PC games. It did not make the computer support Saturn games at all.

Yes, there was a Saturn compatible video card that included controller ports. In fact, I believe NVidia made it, back when they were a nobody in the PC market. I can't remember the name of the card, though.

Was it anything like the 3DO Blaster by Creative Labs that would let you play 3DO games on your computer? (games for the 3DO system, not the myriad Army Men games. :p )

Yeah, it was the same idea. I wish I could remember the name of the card or find some links to it.

I could've swore the card in question was put out by Diamond but I could be wrong.

it was at a time when nvidia licensed their graphics chipsets until they bought STB as their card manufacturer.

The Diamond version was called the Diamond Edge 3D Accelerator, I believe. It used the NVidia chip.

My post has everything to do with emulation and piracy! Is there a functional Saturn emulator out there? I've been checking around a lot lately but can't find any that have made any decent progress.

From what I've heard, such emulators would take serious processing power, due to the special 2D hardware. Something in the order of gigahertz for decent performance.

its a pcx1, I'm sure a modern nvidia chipset could emulate the function calls needed by its non GL compliant (gl didnt exist at the time) interface. Although the card used a quad based geometry method as opposed to modern triangle rendering method. new cards still support GL_QUADS.

I have used SSF, and got Panzer Dragoon and Daytona USA to run. But it runs at such a SLOW rate, it is pointless. I heard Satourne is the best, but it only runs ISOs not the actual game discs.
