Why do I always hear people say how great the new systems are?

I went to the mall and all I hear is which system is better the PS2, X-box, or GC. The nerd at Gamestop said none of them. I agree with that. I was about to say the Neo Geo is the best, but then everyone there would have attacked me. Glad the GBA cameout because it looks like 2D games are dead on these systems. Hope all the SNK programmers goto Capcom. 2D are the shit and 3D games are just shit

Why do people have such a problem with 3d? 3d has to start out small then work its way up. It can't just be good straight of the bat and besides 3d games are lookin sweet as hell anyway. 2D will never go away, never ever cuz there are too many dedicated fans but you can't just jump all over 3d like its some kind of nazi or sumthin. Now when you are talkin about quality games then yeah the Neo and the older systems had quality on Lockdown but you gotta just give things a chance.

Every system is a good one, even the Jaguar, the DreamCast or simply the GameCube. I think that we should play the machines we like to play and not care about other gamers' opinion. I have an Ultra 64 at home and I must say I enjoy playing some of its 3D games.

As long as a system bears two or three games that are worth the check, well the rest does not have any kind of importance. If it all depends on who likes what and what is better than such and such, then we shouldn't play our games, we should start a video-games magazine!

Just kidding.

Hey DJRobE, just you wait until PS2, X-box, and
GC get some great titles. Then wait, oh say six
years after they go out of production. Then they
will all have a great nostalgy value.

Collecting gamesystems in thirty years will be a
bitch if you don´t get a good head start, so its
best to get them while they´re hot.

God knows it is tough enough already...

Well, the new systems are great. Never have video games been more powerful, and the new systems would have been impossible a few years ago. Gameplay on the other hand seems to have become :look at the pretty pictures, hit the button, look at the pretty pictures:. This is the reason so many people have gone back to Neo/SNES/Megadrive games (or never advanced). Neo games offer superb replay value, challenge, and almost infinite detail (I still see things in the background I never noticed before) unlike some other titles I can think of.

Hey, Magnaflux. Have you ever played any of the
laserdisc games? Dragons lair and so on?

Your comment on gameplay just gave me a serious
flashback. Still i find those games quite
enjoyable today. I may be getting into collecting
them soon. ;)

When the market becomes flooded with powerful
hardware, gameplay will have to follow.

Choosing the best system is very difficult.

I recently bought snes/md to sit alongside my neo and dc.

Nintendo games really are almost perfect. Saturn is great, I love it.Neo is cool, but collectors put gamers out of the picture. Neo carts really aren't worth as much as they go for so that's me out of buying them, it's the principle.

dc really is the finest machine ever made.shame people only start to realise when it's too late.

Don't want a ps2. Crap dvd playback and all the decent titles are coming out on pc(gt3 etc).

I'm so tired of this argument. Neo Geo carts were expensive to begin with. The fact that they weren't produced like a Playstation game game helps keep the prices high. Yes, there are a few games that are really high, but they are few and far between. How many of the Neo games are actually that expensive? There are plenty of games that are reasonable.

Both 2D and 3D games have their strengths and weaknesses. It's this buisness of "which system is the best"? That's the shyt that pisses me off. I'm thankful that I have more than one option in this new generation of consoles. People say which one, shyt, I say give me games. I want Metroid Prime, Project Ego, Xenosaga, Playstation 3, XBOX Nexus, Nintendo Dolphin, hell everyone knows what I'm talking about.

Anyway, 3D games rock, but 2D is forever.

I've never played Dragons lair, but a kid in my neighborhood had it on Phillips CD-i. Little fucker never let anyone play it. Don't get me wrong, I like 3-D games like Medal of Honor, Tenchu, and Metal Gear but there is definately a difference. Something is lost between 2-D and 3-D.

I knew a brat like that.

I see where youre coming from though. When i was
a kid i thought the games were just going to be
bigger and more detailed, but still 2-d.

I really enjoyed Wolfenstein when it got out, who
knew what it would lead to. Ah, i suppose 3d was
inevitable anyway.

I DID enjoy Max Payne so i still expect great things from the 3d genre.

To be perfectly honest, I never forsaw 3-D games either. I just assumed they would be forever 2-D with more detail and planes [a-la Fatal Fury].

I second that. I have a jaguar, that system was rather cool.... I just wish there were more better games for it. I am also partial to many companies, I didn't like Sega because they competed with Nintendo, but now that they are going out, I like them lol. I don't like Sony or Microsoft stuff......
Nintendo cannot help what kind of 3rd party games come out for a system.... whether they are good or not is dependant on the 3rd party system.

Oh yeah, I also miss 2D games too :) I love playing my neo geo, SNES(UN SQUADRON.. THE BEST SIDE SCROLL SHOOTER OF ALL TIME!!!!), and Turbo Express.

That's what I'm talkin about. Metroid Prime and Turok Evolution look really tight, but Celda - let's wait and see.

besides the CD-I Zelda versions... have they ever really released a horrible Zelda? I am not fond of the Graphics AT ALL..... i want to try it out :)

I have heard a couple rumors.... the graphics get better with the age of Link.... that would be cool...

and they are releasing 2 Zeldas.

I have heard both..... the first one is from a source of a Source that works at Nintendo.... supposively.

Most punks that crap on about 3d games would not have experienced NeoGeo in the first place, they are not to be taken seriously.
