Worst SHMUPS ever!

Can you guys think of any especially bad ones? I'll have to think about it a bit, so I leave it to you!

"Trevor McFur" for the Atari Jaguar should definitely be in the running for the "worst shooter of all time" award. Hell, that's one of the worst games I've ever played, regardless of genre.

Sol Deace/Feace on Genesis and Sega CD. They belong on that list as well.

X for the PS. Man that was terrible. I forgot about Trevor McFur (shudder). Legion for PCE is also pretty awful. So was the Journey shooting game in the early 80's. Yes, I do Mean Journey the band!

heh heh, I have a friend who made a shooter for class that had the main character as a gun toting fish that had to shoot other fish. It was really bad. The boss was a huge crab, and impossible. Of course it only had one level.

One of the most popular games in the past 5 years was made by amatuers. CounterStrike <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">.

Eventually it was bought by Valve and many people involved got jobs but... *start violins* Anyone with a dream, determination and a hard drive can make a sucessful game! (that's it....just the hard drive, keyboard, monitor, mouse, Motherboard, CPU and FSB are optional.)

The SNES version of Gradius III is pretty bad, because there's just too much slowdown in it- like the nagging kind you see in Metal Slug 2.

Deep Blue and Ordyne

Blazeon for SNES. That game sucks big time. I keep playing it in hopes that I'll find entertainment in it, but it never happens. When you think about it, its pretty tough to make a bad shooter. Unfortunatly, some dev team figured out how, and for whatever reason atlus decided to publish it, and then I decided to buy it.

Most laughable games:Fight for Life for Jaguar,and War Gods(any platform).Cruddycom(Criticom)for PSX was a big turd also.The Neo's worst game has to be Andro Dunos.Sickening,but I'm sure I'll get some difference of opinion on that one..

any arcade shooter by Dooyong pretty much sucks hardcore. Blue Hawk, The Last Day, R-Shark, Pollux... they're all pretty lame. (and emulated by MAME if you're curious)

Ordyne thats blasphomy!! one of the PC-Engines greats!! as for the bad ones there are plenty of bad ones on MAME!! none spring to mind...

I gotta agree with Sonic, Sol Feace is a kick ass game... I'm not sure why anyone would pick that as the worst shooter ever, let alone even bad at all... Maybe because it was a pack in game? That game was beyond awesome when it was new, the graphics kicked ass and the music was quite good... Deace is even better because it's the exact same game (with a little different music) plus you can play it on a Nomad... If it's hard to make a bad shooter, than the people behind Trevor McFur must be miracle workers... I gotta agree with Dolphinlord on his pick, that game is really crappy. I read somewhere that it was only made by like four people, which might play some role in its low quality... Eveyone has to admit, the screenshots for that game looked absolutely stunning... I'm convinced that's the only reason they made the game, for kick ass screenshots. I drooled over that game for years thinking it looked awesome, then my friend got it and I was amazed by how crappy the graphics truly were... That game blows. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

*SIGH* I'm sorry, but Sol Feace did nothing to make itself stan apart from all of the great shooters that came out in that year (1992). It was mediocre and boring. Looked bad, weapons sucked, music blew on both the CD ant cart versions..I could go on. There were far better shooters that year. And even if there werent better shooters that year(or ever) Sol Feacew ould still suck.

Air Buster for the genesis is pretty lame, i wouldnt call it horrible but it just pales in comparison to other gen shooters(musha,truxton, etc)

On the Saturn, Skull Fang has got to be one of the worst shooters to come out. the scrolling is terribly jerky, sprites are lame, and gamsplay blows. What a waste . . . I got it only to complete my shooter selection on Saturn, no other reason . . . <IMG SRC="smilies/ohno.gif" border="0">
