Microsoft will launch its Xbox video game console in Japan on Feb. 22 for 34,800 yen ($263.44). Microsoft will also offer 50,000 special Xbox units with a translucent case, a silver-coloured logo, high-definition TV and Dolby stereo expansion packs, and an engraved keychain with serial number. That commemorative unit will sell for 39,800 yen ($301.29).

That one, I would consider buying. Just because I'd get a smaller Jap controller, and Dolby Digial pack inside!

Same price as the US one too!

50.000 is pretty much for a "limited edition" system.. should be more like 2.000-10.000

Microsoft try to use all the way to attract people on their support. Sega did the same the special edtion of the dreamcast.

funny thing is that it's cheap for us, but still as expensive for the japanese... I mean, a year ago it would have been about $310

I'm glad that green hunk of crap that was pulled out of the long forgotten "Perkins Wishing Well" is gone! <IMG SRC="smilies/makeface.gif" border="0"> Still, give me some games I want, and maybe a Japanese version will be under consideration. Genma Onimusha looks cool, and Silent Hill 2 (just for the minni-game), but thats not enough. <IMG SRC="smilies/loco.gif" border="0">
