Another Buyrite story

12/26/01 ordered Fighting Vipers 2 and Cosmic Smash for DC online.

An email confirmed my order within hours. So far so good.

Another day or two passes. An email with a tracking number appears in my email box. I check the number, and the games are scheduled to arrive on time. More good news.

The package arrives. My fears start to escalate. I pick up the box, and hear a rattle.

Uh-O.

I open the box, and peer inside.

Only one game, no peanuts, no bubble wrap. Not good.

I think to myself: Please be the right game.

I look, and discover Fighting Vipers 2 UK version.

A minor setback. I expected to get the JP version. Oh well, I don't care.

No sign of Cosmic smash in the box.

Not a terrible fiasco, but not the best experience in the world, either. Why the hell don't they keep their website up to the minute with what they have rather than jerking their customers around? Christ. FV2 was cheap enough, but Buyrite's shipping is astronomical.. $9 to ship a fucking game?!

I dunno about Buyrite. I will only use them as an absolute last resort from now on.

I know.. Cavet Emptor Let buyer beware

The thing is, I bought KoF 99 (Neo) from them when it came out, and had no problem with it.

And really, the last order wasn't a big deal really - they charged my CC the right amount, so it was all good.

Buyrite just has a habit of jerking ppl around. If you go into it expecting this to happen, it isn't so bad, especially if you can get a good deal on something, or you can find something that is IMPOSSIBLE to get elsewhere.

from listening to people, buy rite's not at all bad when you're buying a new release from them...it seems that when older titles or retro stuff is ordered from them that problems start to persist.

Except they NEVER bother to pad the packages they send, they just throw the game(s) in a box, no peanuts or bubble wrap or even newspaper, and send it (them). Seems like they could at least put a wad of cheap newspaper in to prevent them from being beat up in transit . . .

Your right. Plus their slow as hell shipping.
A friend of mine pre-ordered MOTW in advance.
As soon as buywrong started taking preoders.

I didnt bother to prorder at all. Too lazy.
The day of release, I called up Barone, & ordered a copy.
I got mine 2 days later.
My friend was still waiting. In fact, he had to wait a whole week longer than me.
He had paid for the best shipping, & for it to be signed for only.

BR chrged him for that, but shipped it cheap & slow.
When it arrived, he was gone.
So even though it was raining & was supposed to be signed for(BR didnt add that, but charged for it), the UPS guy just tossed it over his fence, where it landed in the mud.

The icing on the cake, it was in a plain paper envelope. No padding, nothing.

Ah, quality service by some standards.

Buyrite must assume that people that get stuff from them are casual gamers that don't give a shit what condition the merchandise is in.

You'd think with the high shipping charges they charge, it would get to you fast and packaged well.

That's why when I order from them, I get the slowest and most inexpensive shipping possible.

I just don't understand why you ppl always have to get next day or 2nd day shipping. What a waste of money. Have some patience.

And you guys bitch about being in debt...

I always get fast shipping, & its got nothing to do with patience.
I could easily wait a week.
What I have found, is that the faster i ship it, the less often it gets damaged enroute.

Every time i ship slow, my item gets beat to hell.
With prioity, 2day, etc, it always arives safe, & undamaged.

Hmmm... I just noticed that Cosmic Smash is missing from both NCSX and Video Game Depot which are both great sites that ppl recommended above. Try this one:
http://www.toysnjoys.com

They've got it... my own experience is that they usually list a higher price than elsewhere, but I've ordered twice and gotten the goods both times. Haven't heard much about them from other ppl.

When shipping domestic, I think the best value is UPS Ground, the items are taken cared of and it's insured. If you must use USPS, use the next day shipping, yes, as mentioned earlier, the package gets better care, plus you can insured for up to $500 automatically.
