Heres a nice one http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004YMC5/ref=br_lf_e_20/107-5880163-1763767

Pure widescreen TVs are pointless to get right now, because you can only use them for movies, and pretty much nothing else, because prolonged TV waching ect. is bad for them, the black bars on the sides will give it screen burn in. But if you have 2,500 to burn on a TV that you'll only use for DVDs, this one looks nice:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004YMC6/qid=1010650120/br =1-16/ref=br_lf_e_16/107-5880163-1763767

Not to mention wait 5 years or so, and the prices of 16:9 TVs will drop like a rock, kinda like how VCRs were 5 grand when they came out, and now you can get one for 50 bucks. Because in about 5 or 6 years all or most TV stations will be simulcast in HDTV, So you'll be able to watch cable in widescreen.

Get a HDTV widescreen tube set, granted they are only 34" to 38" big but you oughta see the picture when you hook up a progressive scan dvd player. As for playing video games on it they fill the widescreen. Playstation 2 actually has the option of choosing to play on a 4:3 set or widescreen.

I can't wait to play new Gamecube Biohazard game in widescreen with 800 lines of resolution and via component input and hopefully the game with have progressive scan as the gamecube outputs progressive scan on certain titles. My NEO GEO looks pretty cool on it too although not as good as the newer systems.

Forget about LCD, plasma, projection tvs. CRT are still the best sets. The others are all about inches, mucho money, burn-in and besides they are usually huge. You need like a whole room just for the set.

There are HDTV sets by Phillips, Panasonic, Toshiba, RCA, Sony. So you have choices but I went with a Panasonic 34" Tau pureflat. It has like four composite inputs, four s-video and two component.

Wait! This fall, companies will start selling DLP rear projection sets. Brightness, clarity, weight (85lbs for a 50" model) and size already surpass CRTs. They will also be HD!

The kicker? 43" models will start at $3k with 50" models going for $5k.

Check out the RCA 38" HD tube. It's 1080i, has the HD tuner, HD DirecTV tuner and all. Great set.

um...only if you're a dumbass and don't set up the screen properly. you can set 16:9 TVs up so that they view television full screen, slightly cropping the top and bottom.

Concerning my Panasonic 34" Tau. Though the original retail price was anywhere from 3,500. to 3,900. It is currently going for about 2,500. Though because my sister works for Best Buy I got one for 2,000.

Concerning the RCA model. Best buy has them for even less then the Panasonic and although the screen is bigger it is not superflat and the picture is not as good.

I love it! I have thinking about getting one from overseas for years now as they are many many widescreen sets sold in Europe though the exchange rate and shipping would have really uped the final cost. Great that they finally sell some over here and at that they are usually HDTV. The ones they sell overseas aren't usually HDTV ready or upgradeable.

Best Buy site doesn't have a listing for it. If you want a pic and spec's go to Panasonic's website.
