I'm not much of a movie buff, but I enjoyed Iron Monkey. Old school Kung-Fu fun.

I'm not quite sure what to make of 2001. A lot of films you guys have seen haven't been released here yet, so I'll just go through a short pick of 2001 releases...

The Score
Driven
Taxi 2
Bridget Jones's Diary
Traffic

Man Bobak, I was with you until Rat Race. Even in the guilty pleasure catagory that was a serious waste of time (in my opinion). We went in expecting just a fun lightharted 90 minutes, but just could not wait for it to end.

Just rent "It's a mad mad mad mad wold" It's about 10K times better.

I would say fast and the furious, because I dig car flicks. But, I am always sickened when a classic car meets it's end in these types of movies. In this case that would be the black 69 Charger plowing into the semi. Utterly disgusting...

Gotta go with A Beautiful Mind here. Totally exceeded my expectations, Jennifer Connely gave a star making performance in it, Russel Crowe went above and beyond and Ron Howard finally broke from his own conventions in making an excellent film. I'll be disappointed if it doesn't sweep the oscars this year.

Lord Of The Rings was also fantastic. It was, in fact, my pick for best movie of the year until I saw A Beautiful Mind.

From Hell was also very, very good, and Final Fantasy is an underrated movie if you ask me.

Apocalypse Now Redux is good, but I can't qualify it as one of 2001's best because it wasn't made in 2001.

A.I. - What a great movie. Makes you think on a number of issues. Great atmosphere and visuals. Draws you in, and almost brings a tear to your eyes at times. Very underated. A moving picture.

Jeepers Creepers - Yes, it's horror, but it's horror done right, old-skool style.

Memento - A great psychological thriller that warrants more than one viewing to fully appreciate.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust - The long awaited sequel to an anime classic. Stunning art and visuals, the usual cast of eccentric and colorful villians and protagonists, and a plot twist that makes you question which characters are villians and which are heros.

Honorable mentions:
Evolution
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back
What Women Want
