'course I am.

A shade once ripped me off, that's why I usually don't bid on auctions of these dudes. I haven't lost too much money, but it sucks anyway.

Keep your eyes open.

Yeah, you bet, Daisuke!

Sometimes it may be unfair not to deal with shades, but I had no positive deals with them so far.

I once placed a bit on a record and won the auction, sent the money and waited, but nothing. I complained, wrote mails, nothing. Finally, eBay told me that the seller was obviously a thief (what lucid conclusion), and that was that.

............everybody has them. You said so yourself. What's your current status have to do with that?

It's not like everyone who has shades turns out to be a law-abiding citizen .

Sure you did, but remember that dude last Xmas who ripped people off for like $25,000? He also had shades.

I'm leary of shades because they haven't been around long at all.

If they have like 3 feedback, no negs, and they bought something significant (not like all $1 purchases) than I'd let them slide on most things.

I suspect everything is a trap...which is why I'm still alive.

The thing that gets me is how you bid on an item and a zero feedback person that only had his/her account created for only a week or so is outbidding you like a mad person as if something seems fishy. That is what bothers me the most

I agree and its a good way to look at things, but what i meant was if nobody trusted me i wouldnt have shades anymore but i would be sitting at zero.

So far i have been involved in around 80 auctions and every one has been sweet

We all had to start with shades didn't we? Unless a shades person has bid retractions/negative feedback, I give them the benifit of the doubt. There are good bidders out there......you can't find them unless you let them bid......unfortunately.....the risk is getting bad bidders too..........

Yep, we all had to start with shades, but mostly not for very long. Most ppl hear or read about ebay, get curious, browse through the auctions, find something interesting, sign in, and place a bid immediately afterwards, and perhaps they are greedy enough to out-bid the others.. ...ding ding, gone are the shades.

I specially distrust name-changers, whose formerly used names can be reviewed, placing too-good-to-be-true auctions.

Hey guys.. Don't dump on the name changers and shades folks.

My old Ebay ID used to be my email addy, but that addy has been since flooded with spam, so I had to change my email.

Which also means I had to change my ebay ID, hence the shades.

I changed my ebay log in name once.
The shades crap makes you feel that there is some evil intent and shit. Really, I think it can 50% contributed to the image alone.

I am done with ebitch for a while, I got sick of getting SNK collectables that looked really nice and COUGHlargerinsizeCOUGH in the auctions that I won.

Speaking of shades...

that sucks, sorry to hear that , anyway this shows how smart ebay is... didnt you try to get your money back or something since your supposed to be covered up to 200 dollars? I mean I thought Ebay was safe and secure for this kind of stuff...

Sonic, believe me, I tried (and still try) very hard to get my money back.

Trouble is that I was too confident in the seller's honesty and missed the deadline of my bank to redraw the transaction. It was too late for that when I noticed that something is wrong.

There's still a lawsuit running against the thief, that's why ebay hasn't payed anything yet. They say they will pay as soon as the suit is over, but the guy who ripped me reportedly robbed more than 20 ppl, which delays a quick decision I guess.
