Inspired by NeoTurfMasta's <a href="http://www.neo-geo.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=002469" target="_blank">search for Iron Clad</a> I thought I should start a thread about the game and its "mystic" status.

I own the CD, and to be honest, I was never too impressed by this shooter. It has all the bells and whistles you can think of, good graphics, very good music, a nice weapons/add-on system, tough enemies, but IMO it all boils down to a good shooter with a lasting appeal, it's not the end-all and be-all of all Neo(CD) games of that genre.

Don't get me wrong, I like playing this game, but IMO it's far too overhyped, and overpriced. I got my copy for $80, which still is too high a price, but I have seen prices btw. $100 and $300 (courtesy of some of the ebay morons). That's ridiculous.

Post your opinions right HERE => :)

The one thing I really enjoyed about the game is the fact that you can chose different paths in the game. IMO it adds a lot to the game, and it needs that to keep any interest in it. Even though it does have the different paths, I dont think it does enough for the game.

There is something off about it. I dont know if it is control or having to mess with the helper orb thing. That thing can be annoing at times.

The powerups are OK, but I feel that there needs to be more. I havent played it all that much, but the little that I did, left more to be desired.

I dont care, I still want the damn thing. :D

I think Ironclad is pretty cool for a AES CD game. It's a decent shooter and the path choice definitely adds longevity to the game, but yeah it isn't worth the asking money imo. :)

Personally I'll go with Square's awesome Einhander everytime. The game never lets me down, its a joy to play everytime and the extra weapons (especially the 'hidden' ones) are cool as fuck. Top game. I'm almost glad they've not made a sequel so as not to potentially fuck things up... tho how they'd improve it I don't know....

Call it R-Type 4 perhaps?

Yep, Einhänder is a great game, although I never really liked 3D rendered sprites, until I played Zero Gunner 2 on Dreamcast. The Psikyo guys have done a very good job with it, definitely one of my fav shmup.

Anyway, I still don't get why the price for Iron Clad is so high. Ppl say it would be rare, but most of the importers I check regularly have one for sale, with always the same funny price tag.

In my opinion, the best Next Gen Shooter is R Type Delta. The Level 3 walker alone puts in that status.

Ironclad didn't impress me that much.

The action didn't really get me going. It's too slow-paced. IC's graphics are nice, although Blazing Star beats it there. The zone selection is a nice thing, OTOH.

I wouldn't pay more than $50 for this game.

I'm trying to get a copy of this little gem. Anyone have one for sale at a reasonable price? Thanks! :)
