. And that level 1 end boss is pretty lame I think. It's like they tried to make him gross just for the sake of making him gross. And the regular enemies are pretty bland too. The run and gun shooting is top notch though.Originally posted by Rade Kuruc:

CAUTION SEAMAN!![]()
I must say once again, this game fucking rules, it should be discussed on this board forever-more.
I still can't beat stage six though.![]()
The Database timeline rocks! The continuity is fixed up because they go by the arcade/Japanese SNES storylines for the earlier installments and disavow the existance of "certain" entries in the series.
Freaking amazing that Lucia is in it too because her design/etc. was originally created by Dr. Geo Mandrake during the Hard Corp. debacle.

Are you getting JPN/Asia or US version?
I guess you have JPN/Asia one since you call it "Shin Contra"
I haven't received mine yet........

; It came out in the US first though, the only difference AFAIK is the US version has a cooler title than "New Contra."

Edit: Why are people complaining about the bosses being "gross?" Ever since the US NES port of Contra the series has been BUILT around blasting giant faces that vomit things onto you.

Yeah, I know, but I'm an asshole and consider the Japanese versions "Pure" and original, and 99% of the time somethng gets fucked in the "Loclization" process. It's just my deal man.

That's what I have in mind!
After Konami took out 30 men trick from SNES version and life-bar from Genesis one, I'm tired of those fuckin "locolized" shit......
Examples:
Fatal Frame (play original JPN "Zero" and you'll know why"
Final Fight (SNES/GBA/Sega CD) - Fuck that....give me back my Roxy and Poison!!!

Soul Edge (Intro CG water scene)
Fighting Viper (Pepsi man)
...and many more <img src="graemlins/shame.gif" border="0" alt="[Shame]" />
) . Check out the US exclusive interview on Castlevani Chronicles.
Almost makes owning both versions worth it even if you got the import.

I used to own import Castlevania Chronicle. Well, I don't pay attention to interview coz it has nothing to do with gameplay.
It's fun & interesting but not that special. How many times have you watched that interview? Probably once.......
Konami did two great jobs on game cover art: SNES Contra III & Super Castlevania IV
Maybe there are more but just IMO

Here's an ironic but true story though, when I first started playing the PSX Chronicles it had been ages since I'd played the original, I had totally forgotten about being able to whip downwards in mid-air. If not the for the interview I wouldn't have remembered nearly as soon as I did. O_O;
So you see Liquid the interview is vital for gameplay. I bet if you read more interviews there'd be less "This game is too hard" out of you. I'll try to find a Shock Troopers interview for you.![]()

Contra III is a great one yeah, same with CVIV.![]()
Game cover art is usually so stupid nowadays, it's just like, a picture of the character model from the game with some dumb filter/airbrush effect on it. Back when I was younger the painted/hand draw artwork that graced all the Konami products was half the reason I got into them in the first place. Same with SNK's NES games, who could forget the insane coolness of the Victory Road cover even if the port wasn't so good? Or Iron Tank?
I thought the Snake's Revenge and TMNT1 cover arts were very cool. They hired some American comic artist (name eludes me right now) to do all the Shattered Soldier at and that looks especially awesome. Though for some reason Bill Rizer is drawn almost Aeon Flux style on the manual cover while Lucia is still drawn with realistic proportions so that looks a little strange, everything else rocks. They need to make a new one where with different weapons for each character and with Lance Bean/Scorpion playable in his Blood Falcon form.

Thanks but no thank. I already got some reviews from BBHNow I love Shock Troopers even though it's not as good as MERCS
<img src="graemlins/tickled.gif" border="0" alt="[Tickled]" />
BTW, I just got Shin Contra not long ago. My secretary handed me that package and I knew it must be Shin Contra!
Can't wait to play it tonight <img src="graemlins/drool2.gif" border="0" alt="[Drool 2]" />
Right now I just need to get GBA Contra Advance from Bestbuys.... <img src="graemlins/drool.gif" border="0" alt="[Drool]" />

Great job Liquid! Shattered Soldier is awesome. You may want to hold off on Contra EX though (that's what the GBA one is being called).
It's kind of stupid what they did do it, remember SNES Contra III works like this:
Y-shoot
B-jump
X-change weapon
A-Helio Bomb
L/R-stand still while aiming
GBA Contra works like this:
B-shoot
A-jump
L/R-stand still while shooting
Want to know how you change weapons and use super bombs? I can't tell you, because you can't. What the hell were they thinking? As a result you can't even do the pose that made us all go out and buy Contra III SNES (exscuse me Contra Spirits for Super Famicon) as soon as it came out.
So where does the "EX" part come from? It comes from "new" levels being put into the game.
The two overhead levels of Contra III are removed and replaced with these "new" levels.
The new levels are taken from Contra: Hard Corp. on the Genesis, no changes made to them. Remember how Morrigan Aensland vs. Haohmaru looked in Capcom vs. SNK 2?
Konami, what is this crap? Why not just do
B-Shoot
A-Jump
L-aim
R-change weapon
select-Helio Bomb
The GBA is the GBA, you put Harmony of Dissonance on it remember? There's no way it can't handle Contra III exactly as it was with this EX version as a choice too to play in.
Why mess up the controls so much? Hard Corp. had aiming and such in it too so it's not like they did it to make those levels a breeze.

Well, I will still buy Contra Advance (Contra EX) even though it's not a perfect game.</strong><hr></blockquote>
I know I'll probalby end up wasting money on it too.I'm gonna wait a bit though and see if any other Contra related stuff is announced on the GBA instead. Maybe just pick up Turok Evolution and grab Metal Slug when it comes out (everyone here should try out GBA Turok Evolution).
