Okay, so it may not be a classic to some people but to me I spent lots of money on it and loved the shit out of it.
It's called Blood Storm.

The control was set up almost identical to Mortal Kombat but the gore surpassed it by a mile. You could lob off characters arms, head, or torso in mid battle. You could also gain the powers from the characters that you beat.
Shit loads of hidden features, taunts at end of battle, hidden stages, around 7 hidden bosses, a password feature. Any any one else out there remember this one and also loved (or hated) it?

I don't know about Blood Storm, but it sounds eerily like another semi-obscure fighting game I used to play way back when... Time Killers.

BLOODSTORM!!! I WANT THAT GAME!!! I played it a few times when it was in the local arcade, and havn't seen it since. It was made by the same people who made Time Killers. It played like shit, but it was just funny as hell, and that made it worth every quarter I put into it. I can't seem to ever find the PCB for it though. Any one know where to get a copy of this classic?

I remember the ads in some gaming mags stating that Daniel Pesina who was the actor who played Johnny Cage in the MK coin-op games endorsed this game.

Apparently he had some kind of falling out with the creators of MK, which was later resolved.

Absolutely correct, in fact the MK4 ending for Johnny Cage is a big rib on him. He left the series to start his own "hollywood martial arts" dojo. Basically teaching stars how to do martial arts for the big screen. Hewas an idiot and Boon came out and blasted him for it.

Bloodstorm is actually the sequel to Time Killers.

Anyone remember the simpsons that had a game called bloodstorm? AKA THE Bart the Shoplifter episode. He steals a copy of it from the Try 'N Save... no actualy relation to the real game.

The game was called Bonestorm if I remember correctly, but I might be wrong.

I remember seeing some screenshots for Blood Storm as a Playstation game in an issue of GamePro before the system had come out.

Was the port canned or maybe only released in Japan?

Bloodstrom

Bonestorm was on that Simpsons Christmas Sepcial.

never made it to consoles.

I used to love Time Killers, but I don't think I've ever seen Bloodstorm.

Blood Storm rocks.

It has that cheesy old school fighter feel, with the blood & guts that put MK to shame.

I remember playing Blood Storm once while on a roller skating field trip in sixth grade. As a matter of fact, I went just to hang out in the game room as I didn't know how to skate and still don't even to this day. I only played it once as it was a 50 cent game, what can I say; Mortal Kombat was only 25 :D . Anyway, I got my carcass handed to me and at the end of the fight, I remember my character falling onto a huge pointed rock. It was probably the goriest and coolest thing I had ever seen up until that point in a video game. Sadly though, I've never seen that game since. But on the flip side, I might be able to pick up a Time Killers cab at a local auction in two weeks. I can't wait!

Gory games just bring back that great feeling I had as a child and I still love them to this day.

I so want to go to one of those auctions. My cab that I'm building pissed me off today. Turns out the dimentions are all fucked up. So my father-in-law will come over tomorrow and help me out since he is a carpenter. For the rest of the day today I spent playing Blood Storm and found a horribly cheesy way to beat the game. Use block when they jump into you to attack let them hit you then upper cut. The only person this wont work on is the 2nd version of the last boss, modify it a bit and he will come down as well.

If you want to play Bloodstorm again, you could play it in MAME if you really wanted to. Its a cool game, this one and Time Killers had a lot of gore.

And NO, this is not a shameless plug for an Emulator either
