Well, the game didn't end up sucking, but there was one part of the Silent Hill demo that was better than in the finished product.

I'll explain it thus:

1. Locker room.
2. First time through.
3. Bang bang, rattle rattle.
4. Locked.
5. Bang bang, rattle rattle.
6. Oh, shit.

No run-of-the-mill scare... it left you thinking that it was going to jump out at you as you left. Much creepier than what they did in the final game. Particularly considering what happens the second time through.

Yeah, the Silent Hill demo was better than the game, though the game wasn't awful.

Are you kidding? That was the only part where the demo surpassed the original (well, that and the freaky laugh sound that the children-things made in the demo). SH1 stands as the pinnacle of horror, for me. Nothing has ever affected me to that extent before or since... I only wish I could play it and have it all be "new" to me again.

There was a demo for Off-World Interceptor on one of the 3DO demo discs that I enjoyed far more than the actual game itself.

DOOM. The other episodes werent near as good as the first. And you had to pay for those 2.

That is the ultimate example. I've never played a game where the DEMO lived up to the hype, but then the game didn't even come close. God, it makes me mad just thinking about it. And Substance isn't going to fix it, Kojima! You hear me?!
