Is Law Enforcement a good job?

I was wondering if there were any Neo fans that did Law Enforcement for a living? I was thinking about joining up (seems like the depts around here have some dope beinefits) but i dont know if I would like it. Excuse me fro saying this but it always seems like cops are dicks and I dont know if I would fit in.

someone tell me how it really is and not how I think it is.
Also any advice would be helpful.

well..they can be huge jerks when you're dealing with them and ur under arrest and especially when you're not listening to them. but if it was just hanging out or knowing them as a person, they're just like everyone else.

I'm not in it but know people who are. Problem is, most of the population (young) will hate you with a passion. You never know if you're going to come back home alive every morning you leave your door. The attitude between police officers themselves is far different than the attitude towards citizens. That's a tough call to make. You should join the class and see if you like it. If you don't try it, you'll never know.

I started with the California Highway Patrol in 1994 upon getting out of the military.

I have since left them [1998]for a Government Law Enforcment agency.

I love my job and actually look forward to going to work everyday.

It can be a very stressfull job , so if you get annoyed easily dealing with people you may want to look at a different carrer.

The best way to find out if its for you is to do a few ride alongs with your local P.D. or see if they have a cadet position ?

You might also look into a PC 832 class at your local JR college if they offer any ?

I could care less what other folks say ause i would be DA MAN, Seriously though I know what people would think because I think the same things about cops. i would be more understanding to young people since i myself am young. i will give you an example, My girl got pulled over for having blue lights, the cop was a totall dick and made her disconnect her lights (he gave her a knife to cut the wires). She said she would have rather have the cop be nice and give her the ticket then to be a totall dick and not give her one. Now if I where the cop yeah i would have pulled them over and told them they were illegal and from there if the guy was nice i would let him off with a warning but if the guy gave me shit I would give him the ticket.

I would be a cop only as a stepping stone to something bigger in the police force, like SWAT or something along those lines.

PS if i ever saw some kids skateboarding I would pass them by and try to catch real criminals. Like murders and rapists and such.
