Don't worry, I'm not Xbox bashing.....

OK, I recently bought Crazy Taxi 3 (despite some poor reviews), only to find that some of the sound effects - mainly the speech samples of passengers and pedestrians - seem to be corrupted. They basically sound like a 'cooked' mp3 file, which means a nasty crunching, scraping noise instead of a nice clean speech sample.

I've already exchanged the game for another copy and still get the same problem. I also fiddled arround with the sound settings on my Xbox setup to no avail. And I know it only affects speech samples because if you set the speech volume to zero you dont get the problem (but you also dont get any speech at all which really kills the games atmosphere).
I haven't tried it on any other Xbox's, so I was wodering if anyone else had bought the PAL version of the game and had this problem.

Anyone???

i sold my PAL xbox and bought a US one, because i can get the games that aren't out yet (dead to rights, silent hill 2 e.t.c) for about £20 each.

...regards to crazy taxi 3,
i've only played the PAL demo of it when i had my pal xbox, but i didn't notice any problems with the sound.

have you got dolby digital switched on?
if you have it switched on and well u, you dont support it,the sounds will be coming thorgh the wrong channels.

Yep - I have a 5.1 system, and I tried it with and without it on, and I also totally disabled it in the Xbox setup just to be sure.

And it still sounded crunchy......

are you using the cable that came with it? (composite into scart)
if you are, you need to buy a RGB scart lead.
if you aint got one, you can buy mine for £6 shipped :D

and youll get a picture that is about 1million times better too.

Just so all is totally clear on this.....

1)Using an Advanced SCART cable (the official MS one)
2)Tried with both stereo sound and dolby 5.1
3)Never had this problem in all other games (including JSRF) that I bought for the Xbox.
4)All other SFX in the game are fine - music and background/engine sounds are fine, the voice of your cabbie is fine, the voice of the announcer is fine. ONLY some of the speech samples (about a half to two thirds) of the customers seem corrupted.

My guess is its a bad production run - mabye Inforgrammes fucked up with the PAL version - I dunno.
I just want some confirmation from someone else who owns the PAL game, as to wether they get this or not, because so far, the olny thing I aint tried is the game on another Xbox.

I already took it back and bought Duke Nukem Advance instead.

I think I'll spend he remaining £10 on instant noodles and Wagon Wheels.

I've read a review on the Pal version of CT3 - they didn't mention any sound problems.
I didn't play it so I don't know for sure, though.
