Count me in!! I loved Contra on the NES as well as Super C which was the sequel I believe and Contra III which is simply the game I'm trying to get right now. Strangely enough, most of my favorite line of games are from Konami (Metal Gear, Castlevania, Contra). The non Konami are KOF and EA Sports series.

First Contra game I've played : Super C.

Of course, my favorite is Contra III-Alien War.

Contra Hardcorp is super hard.......I have to use Game Genie to beat the game

I've always been a huge fan of the Contra franchise (non-Konami produced, shitty PSX 3D Contra games notwithstanding). Although it's definitely the toughest game in the series, Contra Hard Corps for the Genesis/Megadrive stands as my favorite Contra title. In terms of pure 2D action/shooting goodness, I'd put Hard Corps up against any Neo-Geo offering, and that includes Metal Slug 3. Metal Slug 3 is a freakin' cakewalk in terms of difficulty when compared to good ol' Hard Corps.

I'm a big fan of the original Contra on the NES. It remains one of my best/favorite gaming memories of ALL time (ranks right up there with the WH series)

It was a joyous time in my carefree life when everything seemed innocent. My uncle loved playing Contra with me and my bro as we'd switch off. The music, stages, enemies, all of which I consider top-notch and revolutionary for its time.

I remember being in Kindergarten at the time. I would yapped about this monster to all my friends and some of them had played Contra, others hadn't. I was a big storyteller to them that day. They all huddled around me as I explained the horrors of this purple beast....

I rented that game like ten times.

There was rumor of "Contra Spirits 64" for the N64 but that was canned. The PSX games suck! I remember EGM saying, "Can't anyone make a good Contra game these days!?!?"

I'm totally with that.

Here's hoping Contra makes a comeback.

I'm all for a new Contra- as long as Konami puts an in-house team on it. Don't let Appaloosa turn it into "Contra: Strike Out".

It's about time for a REAL installment in the series- something like the arcade Contras, Contra III, or HardCorps.

I was disappointed in PSX Metal Slug X 'cause I was hoping for some hardcore Contra-type action, something I've been wanting lately. I've heard both Contra games for PSX suck, so I haven't got those. Was Contra III for SNES the last good Contra game made? That was so long ago. Hey, remember the secrets, like that one part where the enemies jump down from the helicopter, and you could stand at one side of the screen, secure the "shoot" button with a rubber band, come back in a half-hour and you'd have like 30 lives? Are there any 2-D games like Contra for the PSX besides Slug?

Contra kicks ass... well, at least it used to. I have the first two NES Contras, Contra III, and Hard Corps. In fact, I ran through Super C in about a half hour last Friday. Contra III was awesome, the only flaw being that it's too short. I rented Hard Corps once, and it kicked my ass. Now I own it, and I can't wait to play it again.

Has anyone played the Game Boy game? A friend of mine had Operation C, and from the little I played it I remember that it was cool.

And what about Contra Force? Has anyone played that one?

Uhh, think I rented Contra Force once...wasn't that the one where you could choose different characters? ...Nothing too memorable if I'm not mistaken.

I loved Contra. The original and Super C were tops. I don't seem to remeber Hard Corp. being that hard. Maybe I'm just forgetting. It had great action. The pseudo 3-d sequence with that robot on the highway was great.

I always played as the robot.

Contra rocks. My fav definitely is Contra Hardcorps on Genesis, hard as hell but cool as ice!

The first PSX version (Contra: Legacy of War) wasn't that bad, except for the fact that it is sorta 3D. It's very amusing in 2P mode, and quite challenging, too.

Contra is one of those games (like Metal Slug) that just can't be good if done in 3d and should always remain 2d. I remember the PSX version perfectly. I was a pseudo 3d game with a 45 degree view and it was such unplayable that I went back with the game to my video store the same day (since I rent the game, hopefully I was able to rent something else). I don't understand why game developers have the feeling that 2d games must be converted to 3d. I mean, put a great 2d game with billions colors and zillions frames of animation. Konami learn their lesson with Castlevania on the N64 though.

But I think I get it though. The newer consoles are design to handle polygons fast not sprites. That's very unfortunate. I don't care, I still have my SNES and my Genesis and my NES so long live Contra and the likes (Metal Slug).

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start!!!

CONTRA III: Alien Wars is one of my favorite games ever!

A bunch of friends and I recently had a huge NES night at my house where we played Track and Field (on the Running Mat no less! That shit is exhausting!), Jaws, Friday the 13th (two of the worst games of all time), all the Megamans, Marios and Contra all night till we passed out.

Great, great fun.

Contra fan here, though I haven't touched the game since Legacy of War. If only I could see a new Contra game with the animation/graphics of SOTN or Gradius Gaiden!

I only played Contra, Super C, & The Alien Wars, but I love em all!
