A genuine apple switch add. From what I understand, it's never been on television.

Damn. I kept expecting her to start singing like Homer Simpson.

"I am so smart! I am so smart! S-M-R-T! I mean, S-M-A-R-T!"

Wait until she finds out you can lose papers on a Crapintosh, as well.

Ellen Feiss? Is she the long-lost cousin of Heidi Fleiss? IQ sounds about the same...

Well, my first thought was: "save often" and "backup often". Irregardless of your platform. Macs can suffer from faulty hardware and bad crashes too...

I'm just wondering what the girl was on when she did the commercial. ;)

That Fleiss ad has a lot of internet buzz surrounding it because people say the girl looks and sounds stoned...go a google search on her name..I'll bet you a couple fan sites pop up.

Hell I heard about it on NPR of all places.

Have you guys notice that most of the people who do this ads for tv are teachers and students only?

If that last guy isnt a posterchild for self education I dont know who is !

What a buffoon !

Macs are great for people who have no idea how to use a computer and/or dont want to learn.

Or just want their choices made for them so they dont have to worry about thinking .

And yes Mac OS is just as crash prone as a Windows PC is.

I personally think Macs are ok , I just like to tweak my computers constantly { new hardware as it evolves } so for me a Mac is a really bad investment and also very boring as computers go.

she's kinda hot...ummm i saw that commercial on tv just a few minutes ago. i don't see what you guys have against macs. we got a powermac g4 last year, and it's fucking great. i mean sure it has it's flaws, but i've never had it crash on me when i have four windows open. it's not connected to the interweb though. it's in my parent's room, but i use it from time to time.

I am a Mac person... have been forever basically, but let me just say that this ad campaign is brilliant. I mean, they take absolute losers and stick them in front of a single camera and have them babel on about nonsense... See it is a new low in advertising. I am sure the idea was, lets get the common folk and show that Apple uses real people, not phonies to advertise. The problem is, the cast is such a bunch of inbreed losers and some of the ugliest people I have ever seen.. It alienates everyone, even Mac people are embarrassed by these commercials... So instead of turning the common joe computer user onto Macs, it turns even Pro Apple people off... bad, really really bad,

And if you are not an Audio or Video guy, then there is no reason to have one. I mean to be completly honest here, why own a Mac if you are a PC person who wants to just play games or etc. Macs are only really good for graphics and audio professionals or hobbiests... I try to be very fair with macs, but growing up and always having one I always had to compromise for programs on the PC... And if you are just a regular computer user who doesn't want to invest time in finding solutions on the Mac, then they are not for you. I believe your statement was a little backwords, basicly Mac users have to know EVERYTHING about their computer, for when they have a problem, no one has any idea how to fix it. Hardly any support desks know anything about macs, no really good books... etc, etc...

Mac users have to learn to be self sufficient and know where to go for software and hardware solutions. Plus upgrading a mac is just as easy as a PC, there is no difference. They use the same RAM, HDs, CD-R/RW, DVD drives, monitors, keyboards, mice, etc as PCs that stuff just plugs in and works, no problems, no drivers... Most even take all video and sound cards from PCs, you just have to hope someone wrote drivers for them or write your own... The only thing that is harder to upgrade is the CPU and MB, but those can be found online and on ebay and other like places. I just think you don't really have a clue when it comes to Macs, and I don't blame you, not a lot of people do.

Macs, they are constant work... and like I said, if you really don't need them, then why bother... but at the same time, they are far from useless, un-upgradable, crappy machines :)

Amen to that. I hate it when people put down the Mac just cause they don't know how to use one.

"Crapintosh"? I'm probably going to get modded for this, but that seems a bit immature.

Personally, I will very likely make the switch to a Mac some time soon. I had a 7200 as a hobby, and I hardly had any trouble with it at all, even after giving it a Firewire/USB card, a 3d accelerator, a 10 GB 1394 drive, and a G4 upgrade. I've had more trouble with IE than I should be. Mainly that whenever it crashes, it takes just about everything else with it. MS' coding strategy for Windows as of late seems to have been "Incest is best." Integrating IE, integrating Media Player, integrating Messenger... It all sounds like a good idea on paper, but it tends to create many problems, including having to worry about how fixing a problem related to IE will affect Media Player, how the fix to the MP problem will affect Outlook, etc.

Meanwhile, I wouldn't trust XP if my life depended on it. (in fact, I think the EULA for Windows forbids using it for life-or-death situations or something). There's just too much in that system that's highly suspect: the product activation, the integration of Messenger into the kernel, and some more.

Incidentally, the only problems with my 7200 were with the G4 upgrade (the first one was defective; the company that made it actually replaced it for free--even though I had bought the item on Ebay. How's that for customer service? (That doesn't relate to Apple, but I still think it's awesome, and would recommend Sonnet Technologies for your Mac-upgrading needs. :D ) and the odd Type 2 error (out of memory), which could be due to the programs running (Deus Ex is a notorious memory hog o_O).

In response to Nruvas thoughts on this.

I just wanted to add that , I do understand your thoughts on this and your points are well taken , but up until recently there has been almost no aftermarket video cards available for the Mac except the really , really poor ATI cards.

Me being a gamer first and formost , I take things like 3RD party hardware into consideration above all else.

The Mac is definitly the machine to buy for easy and powerfull video editing , although the current crop of PCs can and do keep up in this field very well now days.

As a straight business machine the Mac is definitly the way to go , at least in terms of ease of use anyway.

The Apple computers have always intrigued me , but never held my attention simply beacuse there were almost no games for it and very poor graphics hardware in the past { and even now } compared to the PC market.

I have been activly looking for an old G3 case to build a P4 in though.

I will most likely buy a G4 Cube soon , simply because I like the technoligy involved in it and at this point I would like to have a Mac to fool around with.

The comment I made about Macs being for people who have no clue does have some merrit.

I understand that the large majority of Mac users are very computer savvy , But I also know that there are loads of people that buy the Imac simply because they can just start using it knowing or at least thinking that whatever they need to do is right there.{ My brothers girl friend wants one just to surf and do email on }

Its no different on the PC really , look at all the AOL,Earthlink and MSN users as well as the people who buy Dell and Gateway machines simply beacuse they watch tv and think , hey that has everything I need.

For me It has and always be about options , and there just are not that many when it comes to the Mac in every aspect compared to the PC { apple being almost the only vendor for anything until recently }

Again I am not bashing the Mac , I think they are neat , but have been more or less usless to me since Im not Graphic atrist or Video profesionall.

That and the fact you can build a very powerfull PC for a hell of alot less.
