Head over to
<a href="http://ps2.ign.com/articles/371/371637p1.html" target="_blank">here</a>
for IGN's rundown on Sega's latest in the series.

The screenshots arn't much to shout about at the moment, but it's all sounding quite good.
Of special interest is the possibility of being able to configure the controls to mimic the twin-stick setup, as the PS2 pad is the only joypad that is sutable for this one (The 2 analogue sticks with 2 shoulder butts make it ideally suted).

With any luck this one will make it overseas as well - cant wait!

hey im a sega/xbox fanboy but i know a quality game when i see one, virtual on was MADE for those dual shock pads (well it was made for twin sticks, i suppose, butanyway) so i can't see anyway this could be bad.

How many people have DC version of the Twinsticks? Or the saturn ones? I have one of each and can both be used on the VOOT via adapter :p

Muddy textures, jaggies galore, no TwinStick release for the PS2. I can see several ways it can go bad, I just hope it does not.

I have a set of Twin Sticks for VOOT on the Dreamcast, it is the shit...

But please Bio, Sega is a skilled developer, Shinobi has no muddy textures or Jaggies, those days are quite over in the land of the PS2. Plus we may get twinstick releases, we may not, even still the Dual Shock will kick ass for the game!!

Peace

I have a set of the twin sticks for DC. They kick ASS! Now we just need a DC to PS2 controller adapter. ;)

I've only briefly played VOOT with the twinsticks in the arcades (Namco Windsor) and it was a totally different experience to playing it with the DC/Saturn pad.

Hopefully the PS2 pad will give gamers an experience similar to the twinsticks, without having to shell out several bucks for a perhiperal that can only be used with one game.

I just hope they do summit about those rather bland graphics.

Yeah, the fog to hide the draw-in is not too appealing, either. <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />

the textures arent that bad.
its the jaggies that are terrible.
i m all for making SEGA games you know...
where ever.
but dumbing it down so it will fit on a ps2 is poor.
gc or xbox would be a better candidate.
too bad SEGA has to cater to the mainstream.

Have you people seen FFX or Devil May Cry, MGS2? Yu Suzuki himself said the Jaggies are in VF4 cause we don't have time to take them out, not cause the PS2 can't handle it.

They won't be tuning the game down to fit on PS2, I mean god damn look at the Shinobi video's.

PS2 haters...I pitty you... <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />

I've played PS2 Shinobi, and all I can say is that if it didn't have the Shinobi name, I'd have never been able to distinguish it from all the other crapulent 3D action games. It's sad, because I love Sega and have no ill-will towards PS2, but it is the truth.

As far as VO:Marz, well, if it's as good or better than it's DC counterpart, it will indeed be a welcome treat. Online play would be fuckin fantastic if they can get it nice and lag free.
The smart money says this game will either not come out here, or just slide under the radar of most dim-witted Yankee gamers. Too deep. Want proof? Watch that piece of shit Tekken 4 outsell Virtua Fighter 4. Now THAT'S a crime.

Damn and I was hoping that Shinobi would be the other reason I keep my Ps2 around instead of VF4. If that's the case with Shinobi then I don't think there's any hope for VO:Mars. Your right about Tekken 4 outselling VF4, way to many teenie-bobbers consider it THE 3d fighter

I honestly think VO:Mars will come out OK. Shinobi is simply a game that shouldn't exist in 2D. Much like Contra, which Konami is now wisely reintroducing as a 2.5D action title that plays the way the old ones did. Guess you've gotta fuck up at least once. ;)

What does that have to do with fog to hide the draw-in?

Because those games don't have fog to hide draw in, and they have big espansive area's.

Man, who cares about jaggies and fog? I couldn't give a monkey's butt! Fact is, if a game plays well enough, shitty graphics don't matter.

Case in point: GTA 3

Virtual On with no twinsticks = shit, are you a complete jackass rabbit dick?

Have you ever heard of Multi Platform? Guess who's getting the VF 4 X Upgrade? (xbox, cube), guess who isn't? (PS2).

1.) You haven't confirmed there are no twinsticks.
2.) There is nothing saying that you can't use existing Twinsticks via a converter.
3.) The PS2 Dual Shock is the best controller you could possibly use for Virtual On sans Twinsticks.

Oh yeah, and Shinobi looks awesome! :p

The nice plus is that, by not being a blind fan boy, hating a company for putting another company out of the hardware buisness, I can enjoy all the Sega games, not just the ones on XBox. Open your eyes, it's amazing what you'll see...

Peace

Problem with that though is you have to import em if you dont have em and the DC version costs shit loads, the saturn version is cheap but shipping is $$$$$$$$.

Yeah, but according to Drift King if you don't spend that money then the game is utter shit. I love VOOT so I did buy some Twinsticks, however the PS2 will be the first console to allow you to play the game pretty well with out the sticks cause of how the Dual Shock pad is setup! :)

Peace
