Both these games are hailed as the best the Saturn has to offer. Auctions have them going for absurd amounts of money.

Which one do you think is the better game/investment?

Certainly, everyone will have their own genre and personal bias. But I yet to play either one so any feedback welcomed!

Do you like shooters or RPGs better?

Niether game is something too spectacular. They are both good, even great but too much hype...

I cannot give any other answer to this question than BOTH.

Panzer Dragoon Saga is one of the finest RPG's of all time. It's only flaw is that it is a bit short (15-20 hrs.) But aside from that, the music is some of the best ever, the battle system is unique and always a blast, the story very compelling, and the visuals are definitely some of the Saturn's finest.

Radiant Silvergun is, arguably, Treasure's finest hour. A rockin shooter with six different weapons for your ship, plus the Radiant sword which can swat certain types of projectiles and build up a gauge that once filled will allow you to perform a very bitchin invincible attack and inflict gobs of damage on everything nearby. It also sports some very cool anime cinemas, a great orchestral soundtrack, and definitely pushes the Saturn to the limit with every special effect in the book, huge bosses, parallax scrolling, etc. Great replay value in finding all the bonus 'dogs' (hidden spots you shoot) and making chain combos by destroying the same color enemies in a row. Fucking top flight shooter.

I'd say if you have to choose between the two, you should just go by your genre preferences. If you dig shooters, by all means, Radiant. If you love RPG's, pick Panzer. These last generation Saturn masterpieces are what etched this console's place in history as the "32-bit Turbo Duo." If you think about it, it's a pretty apt description, right down to the fact that they both had add-on carts for additional RAM for certain games. Speaking for myself as a gamer who wants to experience the best of everything, I'd have to say they're both an absolute must. They don't command top $ on EBay for nothing.

Panzer Dragoon 1 + 2!

You the funny thing about RS!

They could have left out the backgrounds, because you can´t see them anyway.
Too many projectiles spreading around!

Would it be nuts to say that Sin and Punishment isn't below it's hype? I mean, not much hype, but such a good game.

I have yet to play panzer dragoon saga myself, but I have heard it is great. I have played Radiant Silvergun, and it really is probably the best shooter I have ever played. Despite Panzer Dragoon being short, you might want to go for that just because it would still last longer than a shooter. Especially since you might end up hating Radiant Silver Gun due to it's at times rediculously hard bosses. The decision is yours, and yours alone , but first go with panzer, then radiant in my opinion.

S&P was pretty rad, Wasabi. I gotta question Treasure's wisdom in dropping that game on the 64 though. Can you imagine that same concept taken onto the DC? That game would have been a solid hit here in the US on Dreamcast. In fact, I'm still pretty puzzled about Treasure's non-support of DC...all we got was a lousy port of Bangaioh, the only game that was actually better on N64 cuz of the pad.......*sigh

PS- Anyone out there ever spend time with Rakugaki Showtime? There's one Treasure game NO ONE talks about....friggin awesome dodgeball-ish game/Parappa The Rapper on meth

Panzer Saga man! What a ride! Unique in every way, and absolutly beautiful! Great Music, characters you will become attatched to, and some of the most original battle ideas ever. Yes, it is an RPG, but totaly untraditional and addictive. I played it over and over, and I still love it!

PDS is short, but feels longer, the story is awesome, and there's a bunch of extras to discover. the dragoon evolution is great, and the fighting system simply rocks.
it's the kind of game I have beaten several times, but still dig out every year or so to play again. the atmosphere it builds up is awesome.

I remember about one or two years ago, this was being extremely hyped too..

I'm still after a relatively cheap copy, but I'm not that hopeful anymore.

As for PDS vs RS.. I wouldn't pay the insane prices for either.

If I HAD to, I'd go for PD Saga. I can't think of many better RPG's than this for the Saturn, but can think of at least three shooters I prefer over Radiant, probably more..

Silvergun is an intense ride and fairly difficult, theres lots of replay value there and it is probadly the greatest Shoot'em up ever. This game will require 100% of your concerntration if your ever hoping to master it (play when no one else is around). I'd rate this the 2nd greatest saturn game (nights being no.1)

Panzer Dragoon Saga is amazing, the combat system is unique and well devised, excellent Boss action and amazing graphics, the ability to morph your dragon into different classes in unlike anything you've seen. A ground breaking RPG only let down by being fairly short compared to most RPG's.

Short answer: BUY BOTH
