"New PSO Xbox Character
Sega announced today that the Xbox-version of Phantasy Star Online will feature a unique character class not found in the recently released GameCube version, Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II. Unfortunately, specific details regarding race and sex are unavailable currently.

Also, a keyboard will be available for the Xbox the day PSO hits Microsoft's console. This, also, comes from Sega's announcement, though whether they will be producing the unit remains a mystery.

Phantasy Star Online for the Xbox will also be compatible with the Xbox Live Headset Communicator that comes packed-in with the Xbox Live Starter Kit."

wow. looks like sega really like the xbox.

There is the dilemma, get PSO for X-Box or GC?

If there is a keyboard coming to the X-Box, perhaps a mouse is not far behind. Could really use one for Unreal Championship

The question is... is this Episode 1 and 2, or just a port with a few extras of v2. There's a HUGE difference. I don't give a dirty damn it there's one extra character, if it's still v2.

Spike yor kidding me right ,
Hard Drive=Downloaded new levels, new Upgraded weapons, Charcters, New Mags, Super Rare weapons, Xbox live= no lag All real time voice= no keyboard necessary. I will be getting both versions but to Deny the Possiblities on the Xbox version is to lose out of everything you can experience from this game that the developers really wanted us to experience.

So...is Sega trying to release this game on every console ever created? I think the next version will be for GBA, followed by SNES and Genesis using the defunct X-Band service, followed by an Atari 2600 version with a pack-in broadband connection.

I'll hold out for the GP32 and Wonder Swan releases, they'll support "vertical control play." :p

Let's see... it's already sold a crap load in Japan. We all know Japan hates Xbox. There's going to be more users on the GCN. Hey, I've got an Xbox, and was even going to get the Xbox version for a while... but hear me closely. I CAN'T EVEN WAIT A MONTH for the US version to come out, I HAVE to import it NOW for GCN.

So how long would you like me to wait for the Xbox version? Um, no thank you.

Also, HD equals new levels? Um, right... do you REALLY think it's going to happen? Also, what about hacking the game? I can see many not even paying for it first of all, nevermind all the things that may happen with player killers and what not.

No keyboard? Big damn deal. With the keyboard you can do all sorts of neat movements and what not. Sorry, but I can't allow myself to get into hype of a game with no release date and only the wet dream of what COULD happen, but probably won't.

Spike this Pso for xbox was old news to me, I also have the Gcube and will be getting that Ver also. All i was saying is that Sega always wanted to create a Persistant world for this game, and by having a hard drive to store info this my become a reality. By all means import it and have fun but still try to fair and open-minded about it, Im assuming that you would not have even purchased an Xbox if you did not have some type of expectations from the machine and what it's capable of. :)

Firstly, I wasn't talking about you... I was talking about 10. His post made it sound like "What!? What's this?! Xbox is getting PSO" sort of thing, not you.

Yeah, I'm getting it for the cube. I just can't take it any longer. Hey, if the Xbox version is better, whenever the hell it finally comes out, then yeah, I'll probably get it too. ;) You don't understand, I frickin' love Phantasy Star. hehe.

I just feel that with all the hard drive and what not, while it's a good idea and possible, I wouldn't hold my breath for anything. Missions, sure, but not whole entire levels. That would mean everyone would need to do it, and I know some wouldn't. I did like what they did with DOA3 and the new costumes, even though they all sucked. ;)

Xbox will be the only console for serious online gamers.

You won't have to worry about any 56K lamers lagging the shit out of the servers or you're games. Because Xbox is broadband only.

I see some people bashing Xbox because it's BB only, well WTF are you doing still living in the past and trying to game with slow 56K? If they don't have BB where you live then fucking move or shut up, the wave of the future is here.

Not another PSO thread...

My take on this is simple...

PSO was meant for Gamecube... Gamecube got all the hype... I have a feeling I'll end up with an Xbox tho...

I'm going to get the Xbox version in favor of the GC version becuase of hackers.

There are no cheat devices available for Xbox and Microsoft has said that they will never allow one to be released for the system. Also their Xbox Live servers will be watched a lot more closely than Sega's GC servers will be, I'm sure.

The thing that ruined PSO on DC for me were all the PKers and cheaters and stuff. If I won't play it for FREE on DC anymore, you better believe I won't PAY to play it on any other system if there is still mass cheating ruining the game.
