Zany Ikaruga Trivia

I was talking to my friend's exchange student about Ikaruga and found out something relatively amusing. The kanji used for Ikaruga has to do with birds changing colours through molting. Obviously meant to relate to the colour changing ability. The ending credits screen seems a whole lot less crappy now, and a bit more amusing.

An "Ikaruga" is an actual bird. It is a type of Grosbeak.

Isn't Ikaruga Japanese for something like "there is a light"? Because Chris says this when he loses in KOF, and in the FAQ it mentioned that it meant something like "there is a light". Or maybe I'm really remembering wrong.
