Well I was looking forward to this game and hoping it would rock, but it will be a cold day in hell before I pay $200.00 for the game and controller. This is nuts I'm sorry.

What do you all think?

It's all about limiting yourself every "collector" and video gammer has their price limits. I mean look at some of the people who are buying that horrible Dragon Ball gt game for psx on ebay and fuckyouland. I know a place that is selling capcom's special CvS arcade sticks for a hundred and something. To me it'd look cool in my SNK collection but am I gonna rush out and buy it? Hell no, am I gonna get it? Pretty much but I KNOW when to buy in my limits.

I am just waiting for the US release, so I can get some decent reviews and info. I would have no problem spending $200+ on a game with a controller like that, thats how mech sims were ment to played.

I dont have a real issue with the price but , the game just dosent look all that great to me !

It looks like they are using very tall buildings to mask pop-up and hiding most of the screen by sticking you very far back in the mech to keep the frame rate up.

I dont know about you guys , but that really does nothing to instill confidence in the game for me !

I really dont like the idea of having to use a table or desk to play a game. now thats just plain stupid !
Maybe if you didnt need the pedals you could use it in a chair ?

I will wait and see how it turns out and then decide.

Im betting its nothing more than another over hyped FPS in mech form.

Well, I must admit, this is a very ironic thread on this board, given that for the Neo Geo, EVERY game for this system begins with a $250+ price tag.

Steel Batallion must be seen to be believed. It was one of the things I looked forward to seeing the most, given what an insanely UNCONVENTIONAL idea this was. I mean, a game with this huge custom controller, wielding a huge price tag like that, definitely puts itself OUT of the traditional mass-market console world.

For one thing, it must be understood that this game is NOT an FPS with mech dressing, this is THE most ambitious mech sim ever. Hell, just to get out of the mech garage is a challenge. You must begin ignition with a very specific power-up sequence on the control panel, and the controls themselves are a bitch to master. The dual sticks and throttle have a definite heft to them. Graphically, this game is easily one of the most impressive undertakings on the X-Box, you simply have to witness the way sections of buildingscrumple and windows shatter as you proceed to try and obliterate tanks, copters, and other mechs. The weapons system is just as complicated as movement, with a variety of different guns (as well as cameras specific to those guns.)

So is it worth the $250? Well, I believe that for most gamers, the answer will be a resounding NO. However, I myself applaud Capcom and their development team for putting a very large amount of work into such an ambitious (and commercially risky) venture. I'm definitely very tempted to scoop this thing up, since I dig the hell out of mechs, and this thing is SURE to be a very coveted collector's item someday. I just truly hope the game supports some kind of cooperative link missions....that kind of deep involvment with this game would be THE SHIT.

Yeah I find it a bit humorous that people here say aww man it's to much for one game. This is the same forum that pay 500 dollars for one game.

IMO, I think it's a little much, I will be getting it but I have no idea when.

GetThis:

remember Samba De Amigo ? 'no way dude, i'm not paying £100 for a game and maracas, that's stupid!'

then you go on ebay, and USED ones are fetching £150+.

Consider Steel Batallion at the very least, an investment.

all these whiny kids who claim it's too expensive, when they really want to play it(and you WILL want to play it, when samba came out i couldnt care less, CURIOSITY can drive you mad) will have to go and spend $300+ on ebay for a used one, then who'll be whining. i guarantee.
